I was NOT told when I ordered DirecTV Internet on 12/9/16 that I would have to commit for 24 months with no grace period. There is no 10 or 30 day cancellation period?Questions:1) What data plan am I going to be on? I ordered the 18 GB at $99.99 2) What is the speed of your Satellite Internet? I was told min of 12 Mbps.3) What happens if I exceed 18 GB per month? I was told that my Interent speed would slow down, but would not be charge for extra GBs per month.4) As far as a router, I was told I would be getting an AT&T router, since my new CradlePoint (MBR1200B) would not work. If I am using my router for your service there should be no charge for equipment. I see you are charging me a monthly $9.99 for equipment lease. What is up with this???Please answer these questions, since I am not clear about your plan at all!Thank you,Tom Kieckhefer

4) "As far as a router, I was told I would be getting an AT&T router"
That is for your WiFi, Exede does not charge for that.  The $10 charge is for the Modem.

2) "What is the speed of your Satellite Internet?"   Just did a speed test and am getting 13.78 with cloud cover and snowing.

3) "What happens if I exceed 18 GB per month?"   They don't automatically charge you for going over.  You must buy data if you want at $10. a gig.

You will be on the Liberty Plan, 18 GB per month of data at speeds up to 12 Mbps. Depending on the network load at any given time, you might see speeds as high as 18 Mbps, or less than 12 Mbps. Once you use the 18 GB, you will be on the Liberty Pass, and may see speeds between 1 and 5 Mbps during the daytime, and in the evening hours, it might get lower than 1 Mbps.

There will not be any additional charge if you go over your data allotment unless you are on the Pass and want the higher speed back. For that there is a charge of $9.99 per GB, but you must request that yourself.

I do not see any reason that you cannot use your CradlePoint router with your Exede modem.

I agree with Christine, your CradlePoint router should be fine.  Me thinks AT&T wants to charge you for a rental fee?

Hi Thomas,

It looks like Jim and Christine answered your questions. I removed your personal information because this isn't a direct way to contact Exede and it's a open and public forum so I didn't want that information out there. The speed you can expect while in priority data is up to 12mbps some people excel at this speed some are within range. You'll want to look at this link for the FAQ's on going over, speeds, ect A 3rd party router is fine, the equipment fee is the modem which we don't have a purchase offer so that's a mandatory fee as of now. In addition to this forum you can also email us at if you have more questions.
