Most forums have some mechanism for members to contact other members privately. Why doesn't the Viasat Forum?

This was never meant for the social media purposes that is most often used for.

The old forum which had a lot more functionality allowed that.
Lot of things us old timers miss from the old forum.

Various reasons they will tell you. But if you took a vote of the top posters in the old forum, it wouldn't be close which is better. In fact, some real good posters there refused to come on here. Posters with a lot of knowledge that were really helpful too.

Was it part of a switch from WildBlue to Exede?

No. They wanted to transition to this Fed Satisfaction" board. I think it was easier for them to manage, but IMHO not as user friendly.

I'm not familiar with the old board, but I am with GetSat, and I agree that it's not very user friendly. It's quite restrictive.

So this Forum was an "improvement" like the way they "improved" the Unlimited Plans recently.....not!!!

We're very interested in having that. We do want to make this place more user friendly and have private messaging so we don't have to always direct folks to contact us at viasatlistens@viasat.com. So it's on the horizon probably once all this Viasat 2 dust settles. So it's definitely something we're on the same page over. Stay tuned! I don't have an ETA or even a promise that will happen but it is something that has come up a few times so I would anticipate hopefully sometime in the very near future we'll see a nice revamp.

Sounds good. Never been a fan of this "Get Satisfaction" board.

Sounds good, Brad. Any news or update about when we might see the eSVT come back (in some form?)

I haven't heard much on that. I think ViaSat-2 got all the attention and focus now from the powers that be. We do know (very clearly) that it was extremely well received. In the meantime there's a few alternative options that some folks are using on here such as Glasswire or a 3rd party modem management page.

I think one part of the eSVT tool that I miss is the ability to run a speed test directly to the modem. I don't think there are any alternatives to that part of the eSVT. That at least told you the speed directly from Viasat to the modem.

I just wish this forum had the Tapatalk pluggin. I own a forum of my own (DMCToday.com) and it runs on vBulletin. Its nice piece of software, easier to navigate to new posts than this, has private messages, and is compatible with Tapatalk for smartphones.

RE: vBulletin
Wildblue.cc (aka WildBlue Uncensored) was the first forum for Wildblue users, and later came Wildblueworld.com, which was Wildblue's forum. Here is a Wayback Machine capture of WBW captured on July 29, 2016. Both of them used vBulletin.
WBW for a few years, was suggesting for users to come here, and then around 2017-Nov-30, WBW was shut down. Both forums, like this forum, had alot of blues comments...just horrible. But users of WBW preferred it than this forum.

That is certainly functionality that I miss off the old forum!
