phising spam from wildblue

Why can't wildblue protect their own email customers' email addresses? I get a phising spam about once a week since the email changeover. Why isn't wilblue even addressing this?  Here is today's phish:  

This message is from Service admin messaging center to all account owners. We are currently upgrading our data base and Accounts. We are canceling unused to create more space for new accounts.To prevent your account from closing you will have to update it below so that we will know it's status as a

currently used account.

Exede is addressing this problem and needs your help.

Those emails are sent by spam-bots.  Those people rent an email server for a week or two and send out hundreds of thousands of computer-generated emails hoping for some "hits" from the actual email addresses that might randomly get generated and received by gullible people that will comply with the demands of the threats and respond.  It helps to send that email with headers to as soon as possible so the culprits can be traced before they move on to yet another email server, covering their tracks from the server they just used the week before.  Once in awhile the news reports of someone that gets caught doing this and gets prosecuted for it.

When you send ViaSat the bogus email, they can notify their email carrier and have emails from that domain blocked and the source investigated.  The spam-bots usually operate off-shore where enforcement is lax and the dollar is king.

Thanks Cheri, our security team is looking into this one and working to block it at the source. As Craig noted, these phishing attacks are computer generated and are tough to keep up with. As our new email system is 'broken in,' we'll have more ability to recognize these before they become a problem, but it does help to have customers like you give us the heads-up!
