  • Doesn't Need an Answer
Checked out both methods and problems I'm having is that one is only for Netflix, the other needs a better PC then one running XP and doesn't work with Amazon Fire Stick?

Other options to the dreaded data limitation?  Thanks!

I'm trying out Playon Plus.  I can't find any way to set it to only download during the free period. I emailed their tech support asking if there's a way to do it, and requesting the feature if it's not already available. This thread should be linked from the thread it refers to, but I can't find it.

I'm going to have to leave this one to our Forum users. Since we don't operate or own any of these services I can't officially endorse or recommend either service. It does sound like some folks are finding this to be a useful service though.

Nightshift is no longer an option for new users. They've stopped selling any new accounts.

Good to know! While we (employees) can't recommend, endorse or suggest programs like this, it's good to know what options are available for our customers that want to use these options.

I wonder why? I can't find any info out on what's going on with Nightflix and their reasoning for this.

It's NightShift, although Nightflix would have been great branding considering it only handled Netflix.

When clicking on the setup link on their site, you're redirected to:

Translation: They appear not to be making enough money off of the residential market. At the same time they never appear to have been able to expand it beyond Netflix capability, Playon handled more streaming services.

P.S. With most of the streaming services already introducing some titles for download and offline viewing (and probably expanding those titles), it may simply be that they're wanting to get out of what could be a dying market for them - but I can see where demand in their new market may continue on for a while.

Rule # 1: Never target a dying market...

I fear that with Windows XP, you will find that many programs or apps won't work because the need a better computer to run on. I know you don't want to hear it but, it might be time to think about upgrading to a new computer.

It's unrelated to operating system - NightShift has always been a router based solution (effectively turning a router into a DVR so to speak). Instead, they are now focused on a commercial market rather than residential satellite subscribers.

One alternate method for recording you-tube and some other vids I've found that works well is a freeware program called "ClipGrab".  You just enter the url of the clip, it finds it and records to your computer in the background for later unmetered play-back anytime.  Haven't found a decent streaming solution however.

Anyone aware of any other/new options?
