I feel like we're taken advantage of for living where we live.  Our "choice" of internet providers is:  HughesNet (basically the same as this) or dial up.  Talk about a freakin monopoly and taking advantage of people who choose to live off the grid!!  And don't get me started on their *******customer service.  RUDE isn't even the right word!  Any time I contact them with problems (frequently) I get treated like I'm stupid.

Steve, perhaps you need to re-read what I wrote.  I'm not blaming them.  Seriously, I don't see where I said they "made" me move out here.

Manuel, I'll get right on that :)  And I'm hoping to find another way around using Wild Blue or Exede or ViaSat (whatever they're identifying themselves as these days) much longer.

Maybe, with the "countless millions of dollars" that Steve claims Wild Blue or Exede or ViaSat invests, having an option to purchase a plan with more GB would be nice.  But no, they offer 3 plans.  My husband and I do some of our work from home and can easily use that big 25 gb plan in a couple of weeks or less.  And sorry, but our jobs don't give us the luxury of using our internet between 12 am and 5 am.

I don't know where you live (I'm CA foothills) but Hughes is offering 30GB for $80 and 50GB for $100, with 50GB free from 3am to 8am. That works for me.
I also understand that sometime near Nov or Dec Excede will offer its new and better plans with the launch of Viasat 2. So maybe there is hope.

If Excede does as it did with the last launch, which is to offer the rural customers the old coastal plans it may be offering the Freedom plan to us, 150GB  at 12MBS for $100. That is only a maybe.

We're in the northern part of AZ, just outside Las Vegas.  If what you're saying is true, that would be great.  Unfortunately, my faith in Wild Blue/Exede/ViaStat is a a big ZERO right now :(

That would place you on one of the old augmented beams, where your plan options are going to be limited to the Exede 5 plans (classic plans as I recall) or even the old WildBlue Plans. Naturally, I can't verify that now since in their infinite wisdom ViaSat has now prevented existing customers from viewing plans available in other Zip Code boundaries - so your faith isn't exactly misplaced in this comedy of errors - they think I'm an existing subscriber due to my IP address being one of theirs apparently. It is but I'm an NRTC subscriber so can't even verify Exede plan availability in my own service area if I wanted to switch.

You'll likely only see relief in plan choices with the new satellite which will extend better coverage to your area.

As far as using all of your monthly allotment goes, you need to understand and track all of the ways data can be used on your behalf. Once you understand that and possess that knowledge, it can be easy to eliminate unwanted/unnecessary usage being forced on you. But you need to identify it first.

See:

https://community.exede.com/exede/topics/understanding-and-tracking-data-usage

I wish that weren't the case, but it's the truth when faced with the reality of satellite internet and its severe limitations.

We've been with Wild Blue/Exede since 2009. There's nothing you can do to make your internet more enjoyable.

I enjoy my Exede internet service. Have since 2004, when I had WildBlue service because that is all Viasat offered. Controlling usage is the key, you have to decide what you WANT to use your data for and, use it for that and not everything else.

It isn't good for a lot of video or huge downloads, if you want to do one or two of those a month, plan accordingly and don't use the data for other things that month. Don't let guests use your wifi, use ad and media blockers, minimize social media use. 10 mins a day should be fine for social media.

I understand all of that.  My complaint is that we're restricted, and once we hit their "big plan" of 25 gb, we're stopped or pay a HUGE amount for add'l data.  I want a service that I'm not constantly monitoring or being sent emails telling me I'm 10 days into a billing cycle and at 70% usage.  We had that and within 2 days, we were at 100%.  We don't watch videos, we don't have guests to worry about, all ad and media blockers that we can find, we use.  It's just ridiculous what the cost is vs what we get.  I want to use my computer for whatever I want.

That high of usage is odd for no videos or guests and, blockers running. I run 4 always connected devices or computers, 5 on weekends and, as many as 8 periodically throughout the month. Average usage is 40-50 GB per month and, could be down to under 20 if I refused weekend access to my husband who watches videos and, spends a couple of hours per weekend day on FaceBook.

I've chatted and talked with your company enough over the years.  There's nothing you can, or will do, to make things better.  Wait.....how about instead of 3 plans, you offer more for those that work from home from time to time.  There's an idea.

Huh?   Let me know the zip area and I'll post a screen-shot of what is available there.
I go anywhere, any time, like a ghost.  I can even go to https://www.redfox.bz/en/

Yeah, I know how to get around it...

It's more the mind boggling thought process behind the decision to redirect "existing customers" to the current customers portal and then that same redirect prevents switching to the "Home" content. I can switch to the business content.  I'm not an existing customer, don't have access to the customer portal stuff, I'm an NRTC subscriber and guess I'll have to stay one based on that faulty logic - thimk! Maybe I'm trying to sell my neighbor on Exede...

It's almost as if someone's intentionally trying to shoot themselves in the foot with some of the other recent decisions...

Can't even get off the "for Current Customers" tab if you go to Exede.com. Meaning, can't see plans in my own zip code, can't see business plans or residential plans, can't research plans for someone in another location that I might refer to Exede, etc...

Makes no sense, why are we being locked out of information. eSVT gone, can't see available plans in other areas, can't even see plans in my area. We are not mushroom, we don't want to be kept in the dark and fed dung.

Very puzzling to me also. I really don't understand ViaSat's latest moves of preventing their current customers from seeing the eSVT tool, and now we can't even see the Home Tab on Exede.com.  I have been a loyal customer of Wildblue and Exede for the past 10 years. This is raising a red flag in my mind that the current management and marketing  team at ViaSat is trying to prevent us subscribers from information that we used to be able to see.

Is the  next step in the wisdom of the marketing team to prevent even potential customers from seeing what plans are available in their area as they look for an ISP in their area?
