Our internet hasnt worked for months. We called and spoke with a tech and we were told that its our modem. The modem you supplied to us and that it would cost over $200 to replace. He also told us that it would cost us just a little more to cancel the contract. I think this is rediculous. The 2nd option is sounding pretty good.

That makes no sense, The modems are leased, there for should something happen to them that is no fault of yours Exede will replace it.  So not sure where the $200 come in to play other then maybe the tech fee to come out and replace the modem but that's usually not 200.  I would send an email to and give them your account and contact info and let Diana or Lindsey look over your account and see whats going on.  If it is that you need a new modem they will talk to you about getting that scheduled and replaced.

A rep for exede will help you out on the forums here. That does not sound right at all. They charging you for a new modem and a tech to set it up? At least one of those shoukd be waived......if the modem failed on its own accord, and you took reasonable care of it..... you should get a replacement. Some one will help you.

Hello James, I would be more than happy to review your account to see if I can assist in anyway. Please feel free to send us an email of your account and contact info to The only reason a tech should charge for replacement is if your modem was damaged by an act of God, or some type of customer damage. Currently a satellite modem cost $186.00 to replace.

If the modem is leased I think that should be replaced without any charge other than having the service person come out and set it up. After about 1 and half years the modem is paid for. But for all of us who lease the modem because that's the way it works after 2 years you have paid $240 dollars for the modem.
