Exactly, you're paying for up to 100mbps, not a guaranteed 100mbps. 40mbps is still really good and you should be able to do basically anything you want with speeds like that.

Derreck and Alanna,  With satellite internet, speeds vary based on many factors is up to the speed in your plan.  We cannot guarantee the speed. Some of them are your home network and how it is configured, and weather at your home, or our Viasat facility.  Send an email to viasatlistens@viasat.com with your account and contact information if you would like us to look into it for you.

Half? Most satellite customers would sell their souls to the devil for that. Like Ex-Sat said, you must be new. On a clear day, unthrottled my average speed was probably 10-20% of the up to speed I was paying for when I had Viasat.

I do have sympathy for Viasat when you have customers with unrealistic expectations like this.

If you are not happy with those speeds, you shouldn't be on satellite internet.

I expect to get closer to what I am paying for. If I wanted 40 I would have gotten the 50 plan. But you are right. Unfortunately when you are used to being on fiber optic and getting 6- 10 over 100 and nearly using 8 devices with no problem you get used to it. Welcome to country lol. Why pay for a 100 when you can only get half. Just saying. Will be dropping plan.

You went from fiber to satellite internet?  Yea.  Your internet habits would have to change dramatically on satellite.

My 10-20% was 10-20% of "up to 12mbs." In all seriousness what could you do with 100mbs that you could not do with 40mbs? Other than download files faster? Pretty sure video streaming quality and gaming experience would be identical.

Some gaming wouldn't even work with satellite.

Robin, what plan do you have, and what satellite are you on, VS1 or VS2? Also, what state are you located in?
