No Service on Iphone since Thursday

Have had no issues with t-mobile service for almost a year now and suddenly, coincidentally the day Net Neutrality is changed, I can no longer get service on my Iphone. I have done all the script tests, restart modem, restart wifi, restart phone and nothing. T-mobile blames exede, Exede blames t-mobile... and on and on it goes..
Yes I live in a rural area and just on the fringe of cell tower service, but seems funny that it happens on the exact day the rules are changed by the FCC. So here I sit with a iPhone brick... Anyone else getting this?

The FCC rules change on Net Neutrality have been voted on, but will not be going into effect for several months, at least. There are the lawsuits and possible congressional intervention to overcome first.

Why don't you get one of those T-Mobile signal boosters from eBay?

I'm using one of these and I now have solid T-Mobile coverage everywhere in my house.

T-mobile is sending one to me next week, but they gave me one in March to try and it would never even get past it's 2 hour update. I will try new one when it comes in. They said I could only get it from them...

I understand this but seems funny I lose wifi access the same day. Speed tests show I am getting half of the 12mb. Wifi router might be going bad, suppose I can throw away more money and buy new one to test that part. Support is of no help, get some guy I cannot understand because of his accent. Not ragging on that, but don't need someone telling me to unplug my modem that I have already done 50 times as the fix. They won't send tech out because they say modem is up. Pay for the easycare for nothing I guess. They do throttle down my speed when I go over my allotment and that was also the day, Thursday, my bill was due, so even though they billed my CC, maybe they forgot to throttle me back up? Tech guy did not seem to understand that possibility since it was not part of his script. Now I see Hughsnet has 25mbs for less money, but of course I run into my contract agreement to cancel Viasat, so sort of stuck....

Lots of things can happen by coincidence.

It sounds like you are using a T-Mobile device that connects to the internet to create a cellular connection.  I would steer away form that since you are on a satellite connection.

My Metro PCS (T-Mobile) phone has the ability to connect to wifi to make calls, and it sucks.  My Sprint phone connects to wifi as well for calls, and it rock and rolls on the Viasat connection.

The device I am suggestion doesn't rely on an internet connection to work.  It is two boxes.  You put one near a window where you can get at least one signal bar.  You put the other device on the other side of the house.  All you do is plug power into each device and they automatically create a T-Mobile network inside of your house.

Works really nice for me and my T-Mobile signal never cuts out now.

They said I need the 4G LTE CellSpot since I am 1/2 mile from their tower and what you have won't work for me...guess I will see when I get it. I can use internet and text to other Iphone users. I cannot make wifi calls if I don't have the t-mobile wifi showing on my phone up by the wifi icon. Cannot text to android users, which I need since the guy I work for is on android... Seems like Net Neutrality already exists between Apple and Google...My wife's Iphone 5 can do nothing except text to other iphone users even when the viasat was working right. I know it is an old phone and plan on updating her, but in the meantime I have to have a lan line so she can call out. The price for living out in the country I guess. Move back to the city, pay higher taxes and have a neighbor 3 feet away is always an option... No I will pass on that

I'm 3 miles from the nearest Tmobile tower. I'd go on eBay and buy the thing outright. If it doesnt work you can always relist it on eBay.

Believe me, if Viasat was doing any funny business with net neutrality laws going away, there would be 650,000 people on here complaining about it.

Here we go.  Another thing people can blame Exede for.  Hasn't even happened yet and they get blamed.  What a way to live your life, thinking everyone and everything is out to get you.  Pretty sad.

I am not saying it is their fault. Just stating that it was and has been working great until Thursday so something has changed. Support says they won’t do anything because it shows it working and say let us know if it stops again. Well since my landline and internet is via them I have no way to call or email them if it goes down. Guess I could jump in the car and drive 5 miles up the road to get cell service and call them but then they say you need to be where the equipment is for them to help diagnose problem Really no solution to the problem.

As an oddity, I will say my WiFi calling assist with Verizon stopped working for a while tonight. Never had a problem before. Reset modem and phone and all is well again. Did both at the same time because I was in a hurry, so I can’t say which was to blame.

Steve is correct. The FCC just voted on overturning the Net Neutrality rules BUT it's far from taking effect. It still has to go to Congress (looks likely for a vote) BUT there's also a lot of states that have since taken legal action so it's going to be a bit before anything like that goes into effect as a result of the FCC vote last week.

With that said I'd compare other devices on your connection. Is your computer or if you have a tablet are those dropping connection all the time? If so then yes let's take a look. If it's just the phone the phone may be having issues keeping on a connection.

Not what Stephen said. I do the same. It’s called WiFi assist. Assuming you haven’t cut it off (under carrier settings) try cutting it off, rebooting your phone, then cutting it back on. Mine quit yesterday for the first time.

You don’t have enough cell service to text with just cellular service, right? WiFi assist allows you to make calls and text using your home WiFi. It’s like iMessage for all phones.

Dude I guess you don’t understand I know all that it’s been working fine since March I know all about Wi-Fi assist as I said before I can email I can surf the web on my phone I just can’t text to android users without having the T-Mobile signal plus the Wi-Fi when I’m at my house currently it just says no service and the Wi-Fi icon. Prior to Thursday it had the t-mobile and WiFi icon up there No I don’t have enough cell service without WiFi.

So the T-Mobile CellSpot  undid the awful net neutrality thing that Viasat did to you?

I hope to hear how fast his phone goes on a speed test compared to Viasat.  (yes, that's a loaded statement) He'll be back crying about where'd all his data gone? soon enough.  I love the part where he said:
They said I need the 4G LTE CellSpot since I am 1/2 mile from their tower and what you have won't work for me...
1/2 mile?  wow, I have the same unit type as Stephen Rice (TMobile-NXT-CEL-FI-D32-24) and I'm using it from a T-Mobile tower located 16 miles away in Gilroy just fine.  I am cheating just a bit though, my two units are a mile and a half apart from each other, one on mountain, other down here in valley, but still 16 miles away to get the original signal. (There is other equipment that makes the distance between units irrelevant).

I don't ever want to see him come here saying Viasat has crappy customer service that lies.  T-Mobile did a number on him, big time.
