  1. my service went out 11/14 its 1/5 , prior every month ran out of data within 3 days even when modem was unplugged for 3 weeks there has no service call or attempt to fix it. I went with a local provider $9. more a month for unlimited , no contract ,fiber optic includes phone service . no bad reviews as of yet.Thats when I found out Exede is using old T.V. cables that aren't compatible with dish  internet that in itself is a ripoff. T.V. cable for Internet , Really?I called Viasat this morning to cancel service and get money back for the time without service. He waived early termination $75. I didn't owe it any way because they were in breach of our contract I asked for a refund for the time had no service not  even a modem. Viasat owes me $140. he refused to refund my money saying he was doing me a favor by waiving early termination fee I've been with them ( unfortunantly) for almost the 2 years.  It' like anything else if you pay for something and don't get it you get a refund. They knew I had no service but took the payment anyway I used a prepay card so there is no more payments they can take ever again. They never called to tell me they had no one to send out here for repairs now I'm expected to get on my roof take down the equipment.I'm a  57 yr. old little woman with a debilatating back problem I have a hard enough time just walking on the ground let alone my roof, if I fall off my roof are they going to pay my hospital bill ? NO! This was breach of contract , a contract is both parties holding up there part which they did not do.In the real world the contract was null and void when service stopped. They never contacted me to tell me no one was coming out to fix it so I sat here waiting for nothing wasting my time and money. I am very angry ,I dont have money to just give away willy nilly. They don't have the right to refuse a refund this was their fault he admitted that.He did say if I keeping the service he could credit my account, I haven't been getting service why would I stay with a bogus company? Just the fact the use old T.V. cables when it's supposed to be FIBRE OPTIC WIRES 8 TINY WIRES each controls different things like , speed , not to mention it stops any off line time....People check for your selves is yours a T.V. cable? A prepay card is a great way to pay things like this , they can't take money unless you put on the card think about it I will be getting in touch with Corporate plus turning them in to the BBB and Consumers Protection ASAP. We all have rights as consumers , there are consumer rights laws filing a complaint does do something within 15 days they demand answers from companies. They are there for questions with answers and to keep consumers from getting taken by these "shyters" they will help you because they are on our side I urge you to call them or email them with the problems you are having with Viasat..

I had to close my credit account to get away from this provider. They have changed names, but they're still sorry.

Don't EVEN come here talking like you know anything about what you are saying.  You are giving the appearance of a complete moron, very accurately.  If you want to talk like an expert, show your credentials and describe what every one of those "8 TINY WIRES" do in the system you purport to know so much about.  For now, you are a complete idiot with no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

The Jury said you must be informed on what qualified me to refer to you as a complete idiot.  Okay, fine...  This system does NOT use Fiber lines, anywhere at all.  It uses ONE shielded 75 Ohm coax cable to supply power to the TRIA superimposed on the same cable the data is sent and returned to the Modem from that TRIA.  There, you are informed how it really works and I get to keep the Idiot part about you here where it belongs.  You posted your charlatan analysis for all to see and I posted you back in the rat hole you came out of for all to see.

Next time, crack open a book and learn a bit about the subject you are about to berate so maybe you can convince and fool at least somebody that perhaps doesn't know anything about this stuff either.  You can meet and have coffee someplace together, you know, make friends because rats travel in packs.

I could add more but this just about says all anyone needs to know about your Expertise and the complete lack of it.

Ahhh... The Executioner is here, now we can party.

What's to pull?
Facts are facts.  I proved her's were bogus lies and mine were the truth, so I don't think there's a problem here, except she's running around other post stirring up hate and dis-content against Viasat.

Edit:  If Terzy Rice can do it, so can I.  ???  Huh?

Man, cut the woman some slack! For those who don't know Fiber lines are not even wire they are made of translucent fiber that uses light as it's transmission media. But the coax cable that we use are good for 3-5 Gbits so they aren't slouches. But most of the post is about frustration. Look I KNOW we aren't getting the full story so I go by my own experience with the company which is great!! I know we get all this about how this is a POS  company, but  you and I know it not really all that bad!!!!!!!!!!! And in case she is still getting this, her age is of  no consequence  nor is her health. I'm older and I've got more stuff wrong I'm sure. Just remember, ignorance can be cured, but stupid is forever! We must treat the latter differently.

Of course.  We are all decent people here and know there are certain things that are off limits.  We even pass on gender-based arguments.  Just because someone is either male or female or un-decided is not subject to comment in the least form.

However, it is good of you to remind anyone here that may not know there are certain rules of acceptable banter.

True, but some language might get it booted.  She has fiber now with 8 tiny wires and it looks like one tiny wire goes to this forum....

Yea, That's him !  Didn't I mention his arrival up near the top of this thread?

I was certain it would stay until I saw Dianna was here, then I was a bit doubtful, but she knows how it works.  It's the old saying "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen." Come here trashing Viasat and you might just get treated as such yourself.

When people "Google" Viasat looking for dirt, I want them to see the opposing point of view (ours) and that there is passionate opposition to mud-slingers that for lack of mental capacity have nothing good to say about a company that's doing absolutely everything imaginable to give the best service they can under the present conditions.

 "doing absolutely everything imaginable"

Yes, we must not forget the unbelievable bad luck that Viasat has had getting more capacity up in the sky. A third sat is being built / is built to go up in a few years so they are making sure this  situation doesn't happen again.

That has nothing to do with bad business practices., rotten customer service , or no service at all? I have  unfortunatly been with Exede for almost 2 years, I have paid them every month on time and not one did I not be put on restriction , even when I purposly unplugged my modem for 3 weeks just to to see if I would run out of data without using it on any device. I ran out in 5 days. IT WAS UNPLUGGED FROM THE WALL!!! I used a friends internet to check my microsoft account ,they made me start, email and there it was the same damn email I have been getting since the very first month " you're in data restriction. the month before it lasted 3 days when. When I checked my data usage , I had only used 3.5 Gb according the Exede. I stopped getting any emails from that account a year ago except from Exede. No one  can tell me why even Microsoft.. I was online on 11/14/2017 when my connection quit out of no where. I was trying the trouble shoot suggestions when I trip on the ( T.V. cable) the modem fell and was broken. it took 2 weeks for them to figure out " you can't send anything Federal express to a P.O. Box. The tech was to bring the modem out here himself to reinsatall according to customer service. The modem I received was of course one that doesn't work here, he said he would send the right one after that he would not answer his phone nor could I leave a voice mail Then I was told by customer service the tech must have went out of business , " it happens all the time" then he told me to call that same person to tell him to bring the modem to my house. Now think about that for a sec. 1. that would have been his job. 2. the tech would not answer or he was out of business. that was just pain STUPID. after that I heard nothing more from either one. I went to another local provider let me tell you using the right equipment ie the fibre optics not cable is a world of difference. I finally got the right modem in my p.o.box on 1/4/2018.  They are in breach of our contract even tho they new I had no service they took the payment 3 times anyway. They said they would waive the early termination fee. EARLY TERMINATION? I terminated nothing they did. I held up my end of the contract they never did. I am by law to get my money back for the time I had  no service. Exede won't refund my money and there was never any plan to fix my internet. I'm very angry about the mess they created and the shabby way I've been treated the whole time I stayed with the them. This isn't the first major problem I've had with them but it is the last and this one is going to cost them all across the board. According to consumer protection I don't have put up with this from anybody. Who does Viasat think they are? Maybe they should read the "consumers rights.' I like my ew provider, same price for unlimited as I was paying for 10Gb through Exede plus no long contract it's month by month, unlimited. Just to have the  bases covered I paid the extra every month to pay for the service to come out here , I'm not getting on my roof to take down thier stuff , I'm 57 trs. old  with a broken back I don't go on my roof anymore and I don't like being threatened because I have no one to take the equipment down for me just to have Exede say it was damaged and try to charge me for it. they installed it they better uninstall it thierselves or I will start charging Exede for having something on my roof ,I have that right too!I'm not whining I'm doing something about this I hope a few hundred other customers read this and realize they have rights, plus  many places to turn these shyters in to like the FCC, BBB, Consumer Protection not to mention a few others, and will get up and fight these kind of so called businesses. Exede does lie , Exede does treat people like idiots and they do steal data to use themselves and resell to other customers, paying people to write good reviews for them is illegal , it's a quick way to loose their lisense if they even have one.

Because satellite internet sounds cool and cutting edge... at least that's what a recent visitor/guest told me, c'mon I mean we're actually talking rocket science here - then I explained reality to him.

I have a fiber optic lamp in my living room. It works great as a lamp, but doesn't seem to provide me with an internet connection. That is why I have Viasat internet. Very reliable and very fast to meet all my internet needs.

That happens a lot Jim16.

I think space and rockets being used for it sort of lend to a assumption it will squash DSL/Cable. I can see how a lot will think that and without researching or looking into the service before signing up I think that causes a lot of discontent. We're continually raising the bar but the tech does have limitations in a world that DSL/Cable dictate and shape the behavior of the overall web.

Hi Lisa

I just realized this wasn't given an employee response. If you have questions about billing, refunds or fees please direct that to viasatlistens@viasat.com and we can talk there and see if one is warranted or not.

As for the technology, I think the provider you're with now just hit the ground running with a remark on our technology trying to compare us as if we were a DSL/Cable competitor.

We don't use fiber-optics to connect to homes because we are not land-based. Fiber optics make a lot of sense if we had lines running from core-nodes to your home but we don't do that because if we did we'd be a cable or DSL company rather than a satellite company and people in rural areas won't get us. We're a satellite company so we do not require a ground based network of cables and fiber optics to come to your home.If we were a DSL company and didn't use fiber optics then the new provider you have would have a point on not being up to speed but since it won't matter with satellite it's a pretty inaccurate comparison.  We have some on the uplink centers but that short distance from your dish to your modem is a cable that is very much the same as the cable you'll have with a fiber-optic cable provider from the cable jack in your home to your modem.

Just would to say I appreciate the candid reply without name calling like some of the others. the new provider had nothing bad to say and none of that comparison smarty talk, no put downs. he simply mentioned the cable none of the compet]ition bashing. Since I find that childish , unnessesary.. there will always be competition out there.
