I just went and logged into my account with a lot of problems with stalling. I thought I would check to see what's available to me as far as upgrades.  Well guess what, THERE ARE NONE. That's right NONE. So I guess I am stuck here. Anyone else have this problem?

I know George. I am in Florida and I think the new ViaSat 2 would be a more direct shot than ViaSat1. It would be @ 35 degrees SSE. When I get storms coming in from the Gulf of Mexico it knocks me out. But we never get them from the south unless it's a hurricane. Also not so many clouds to go through. The ping times will remain about the same I am pretty sure around 650 and 720ms. We will see.

Dave and Leo George Jr,

There may no plans available at the moment, but give it a few weeks, as we are currently rolling out the new plans by area.

You will likely see plans that will put you on Viasat 2.

All well and good, but... the Viasat 1 plans are still available aren't they? As of right now I don't intend to move from 1 to 2. My speeds are good and the service is reliable, why should I move? I do know that the Gold unlimited is still available. Hey how about this? Put a blurb in the change plan tab that gives an approximate date when Viasat 2 plans will be available to their account. As you can see there is alot of confusion out there. Confusion causes frustration, which in turn causes customers to leave. More software engineers and less MBAs. You can't manage a technical  group with a spread sheet! I've seen it tried and it has failed every time!

You can stay on ViaSat-1! We just put out a lot of new plans on ViaSat-1 that requires no upgrade. Viasat 2 will be rolled out in waves every few days to makes sure that it goes smoothly.

In a way, and I know it is not possible, I wish we knew the order the regions are being released.  I guess there are just a lot of us that were so excited and felt like we hurried up to wait.. lol  but I do get it..

Thanks for all your help..

It's been a while since I've seen any available plans in my account other than Gold 12.

If you really want to change plans, just call and ask what is available.

Been there done that. Seems like the people I talk to need some training on what's available in areas. When I asked about ViaSat 2 she had no idea what she was talking about. Then another one said that I could stay on ViaSat 1 and use Viasat 2 options. Then without my OK he changed my plan to silver and my speeds were garbage. It took a act of congress to get changed back to Freedom 25+. Be very careful when you get one of these people and make sure you know what you are getting into.

I also got a Email from ViaSat on the Sparrow Browser. I installed it and my speeds went from 25-30mbs to about  4-6mbs. I had to uninstall and do a system restore to get back where it was. NO SPARROW FOR ME.

Well they did post a plan on my account. But it's a downgrade to what I have now.
So what's the point?  I guess ViaSat 2 isn't available here in Florida.

NOPE I have no problems at all now, I uninstalled it and problems went away. And it's going to stay that way.

I have no new plans either. I called and was told that the plans are only for new customers, then I emailed and was told that new plans are not for existing customers but they may have new plans coming out in the future. very disappointing.

It's deja vu all over again...

As I recall some 3 years ago or there abouts, Freedom and Liberty were originally only available to new customers. It was only after that push for new subscribers that they became available to existing customers and from the conference calls at the time the strategy was intentional (to bring susbscriber counts up). There was a severalmonth gap, but memory isn't what it used to be and that's based on recollection. It was further complicated by the fact that the new plans were only released to specific underutilized areas (leading to some subscriber confusion that they weren't available to existing customers when in fact they weren;t avai;able to specific beams in some cases).

Given that susbscriber counts went from 696,000 to 577,000 over the past year and a half or so, there's probably a sense of urgency to bring them back up as quickly as possible.

vs.

But who knows? We're through the looking glass on all of this ;)

However, several strategies regarding increased susbscriber counts vs increased ARPU were discussed in the last conference call. Personally I think they're just looking for the balanced sweet spot between the two.

I have the Freedom 150 plan (12mps , 150 cap) and would like to upgrade to a 30 plan, but none offered in my area (55810 area code). The other two "new" plans offered are worse. Fortunately for me, the doesn't seem to be much traffic on my beam, since I rarely get a slow down like others describe. The worst I've clocked was 7.6 down, but routinely I'm at 15 down. I count myself as lucky....for now.

@Bob Hansen, yes, keep that Freedom plan. There are no other plans that are even close to that. 12 mbps is more than enough to do what you need to do, unless you are a gamer and regularly download updates in the 60 GB or larger, or you have a large number of users on your network trying to stream at the same time. People make too much of those higher speeds anyhow.

I no longer show any plans available for me in Michigan either.  When I look it up says to call customer service because new plans require a 24 month commitment.  I have been with them since the early wildblue days and now they want to rope me in to a 24 month commitment.  I keep hoping for something better to come along (probably won't), but why should I have to commit when I have been a customer forever.  Just saying

Moving to a plan on Viasat-2 would require a new modem and tria, along with an installer visit. Hence, a 2 year commitment to help recoup those initial costs.

Well here it is 4-2-2018 and still no new plans in zip 34433.
Only thing it shows is a downgrade to Liberty 12.
No Thanks. That's like going from high speed to dial up.

What's what's wrong with Liberty 12? That's what I have and I've used 276 GB of data this billing cycle. I'm pretty sure it's impossible to use that much data on dial-up.

I can stream video without quality being reduced too. I'm pretty sure you can't do that on those "unlimited" plans.

Speed is pretty good tonight too. I'm paying for up to 12 mbps and current speed test is 14 mbps, during primetime!

My area code is 32344 for North Florida, and after a call I can get Viasat 2 plans costing $100, 150 and 200 for a 60,100, and 150 Gb plan but not wanting so sink that much into an internet plan.  I am on the $65 Bronze unlimited with 40Gb and it works very well daytime for a video, etc but evening good mainly for minimal data activities or expect a lot of waiting to load time. Compromises are inevitable in life.

I spoke with Viasat directly on the phone two different times for plan availability and on the second call they had added the $100 60Gb plan as an option for me.
