No internet when it snows

I just had Viasat installed 2 days ago. It is currently snowing here in Virginia. I can't even see my Viasat wifi network on my kindle. My husband's computer says it is out of range. I hadn't cancelled my Hughesnet service yet, and have been able to connect to that. Is this "normal" for Viasat?

Snow should not affect your ability to see your WiFi network nor result in your husband's computer being out of range of that network - unless of course you're outside in the snow ;)

As described that sounds like a WiFi issue rather than internet connectivity issue. Do you have a device that you can connect directly to the modem using an ethernet/wired connection? Or can you connect wirelessly if you're within close proximity (a few feet) to the modem/router?

Just trying to determine whether it's a WiFi issue or Internet issue since it's not clear from the original post...

Hey, I like that better than HughesNet's WiFi modem.  It looks better and it's easier to see what's going on quickly.  Pretty snazzy.

I have the new triangular shaped one. This morning everything is back to normal. Next time it happens, I will try it closer to the modem. That fact that it didn't even show the network, even as out of range, is odd to me. I guess I expected too much from New service. It's satellite

OK, congrats you're on Viasat-2. FWIW, pages 13-15 of the Viasat WiFi Gateway manual detail the meaning of the indicator lights if it occurs again.
