No internet this evening

Not getting any internet this evening. Not sure what could be wrong. Modem took a long time to connect but did connect. Everything looks good except the client side proxy is disconnected. I have unplugged and restarted three times now. Router is bypassed. I don't think I have a bad network cable since I can communicate with the modem.

Any ideas? Yes, I could call support and waste a half hour. I wont do that unless I still have no internet tomorrow.

Just an update. Almost midnight. No connection. But the blackberry moonshine I am drinking helps with the situation!

Oh, it's the phone line you're calling with that's the issue (e.g. your home phone). You'll need to use a different phone line. They use caller ID to try and determine if you are a customer or not and sometimes that system hiccups.

So if you're calling from a land line, I would try a cell phone or vice versa.

Thanks, I'm using a cell that's unaffiliated, but it's my only phone at the moment, but I appreciate your help, I'll call in the morning if still no connection. Thanks again. ; )

I plead the fifth. ;-)

 when I call customer service it says I have to call the wholesale company I bought my service through
Shannon, if you bought through Dish, NRTC etc, or in the past had an account through them using the same number, you will receive that message.  

If your account is not through a wholesaler at this point, but you're getting the message, email us at ViasatListens@viasat.com so we can correct the issue.

Smart Matt, we can't have the masses knowing what's served at those conferences. They haven't signed the NDA, afterall. :P

Still, as I said then, it would be nice for at least champions to get a note "Network outage on some nodes/beams - no ETA." At least we'd have that much to tell other customers to just sit tight, it's probably Viasat, not on their end if rebooting the modem fails.

No point in going though more troubleshooting than a reboot if there is a network outage.

Didn't the FBI make an announcement a few days about needing to reboot routers? Maybe Viasat just didn't get the memo.
