I changed to the Liberty 18 Plan and haven't heard from ViaSat about when, or even if I will be getting the Plans specified "wireless" router that will handle the Liberty Plans system... Should I be listening to what Exede's customer service as they told me the modem is for new customers? Surely this is not right??? And why does my new account say my cap is 15 and not 18 for a billing period??

Hello Danny, the best option for you to do would be to visit  your myexede.com and see if we are offering our new modem to your area as of yet. You would only see this option once you choose to upgrade your package online through your portal. (Liberty plans are available on both our modems). If your plan is showing only 15 and not 18, please send us your account and contact info to exedelistens@viasat.com so we can get this adjusted for you.

The new hire modem is only required if you get Exede voice. I have the Liberty 18 plan and am using my old modem and my own wireless router with n porn. New is not necessarily better.

It is possible to have Exede Voice with the original Surfbeam2 modems, it requires an Exede Voice adapter. I  have had it for years. The new 25 Mbps modem with integral Voice and WiFi is designed for the 25 Mbps plans.

I am on the Liberty 10 Plan and use my original Surfbeam2 modem and my own ASUS router.

I believe you have to have the new router for the voice plan.

The only thing that actually requires the new modem is the SpeedBoost option (up to 25 Mbps at an additional $10 per month where available), although the new WIFI modem eliminates the need for the separate Exede Voice adapter. However, I wouldn't be surprised to find that ViaSat only starts rolling out the new WIFI modem instead of the older modem and Exede Voice adapter - regardless one of the other is required for Exede Voice service.

Hi all....  The plan I purchased is the Liberty 18...  on my account page, it says "Your Plan"  Liberty 18- SpeedBoost + WiFi ......   at the usage area, it shows my usage and plan limit, which shows 15 GB Allowance....    I'm sure Excede has a new person working maybe (I'm sorry.)  The Web said the area I live at will qualify me for the Liberty service...  it also says it comes with the SpeedBoost up to 25Mbs...  Yes, I know that speeds vary... I'm not monitoring it anyway.  Excedes web page also states "If you are upgrading to the Liberty plan, it will come with a new router that will be needed to operate the new speedboost and also offers wireless service....
I know what the plan says you guys...  I can read just fine...  I'm just saying what the web page advertised and what is not happening as of now....  Note:  I only applied for the new upgrade 5 days ago... maybe they are 'short-handed' and are a bit slow to respond to me...
As I just now checked my account, the message says the account is still pending... and they are now showing my account as if nothing has changed...  like back to my older settings..    O well....  'that's life' these days...  makes me sad.....

Since you signed up for the SpeedBoost option, it's likely your new plan won't take affect until you receive the modem, install and activate it (I know I wouldn't want to be paying for a plan that I couldn't take advantage of without receiving the modem first).

Send an email to exedelistens@viasat.com as suggested by Lindsey and they should be able to clarify.

When I upgraded to the 30 Liberty plan several months ago no-one ever told me about the new Exede modem with the wireless router that is suppose to give your speeds a boost! I have been having a lot of wireless internet connection issues this past  month (I am having to use the network diagnostic tool over 5 times/day!!) . I am using my Mac Book Pro . How can i get the new modem with the router bc i am very interested in that especially if it helps the speeds. I had upgraded over the phone and no-one ever mentioned anything about it! Any info or help would be greatly appreciated bc i spend several hundred dollars every month on this internet service bc that is all there is available where we live . also any help on if there is a certain network configuration i should use would be great bc they told me not to use a proxy but I'm not sure how to set the right options for the wireless network on my Mac Book Pro OS X El Capitan Version 10.11 with Safari browser. thank you!!
