New router suggestions

My Netgear router is about 8 years old.  With our AT&T DSL service at our former house, we had wifi all over the house.  With Exede at our new house, we only have wifi in the room with the router.  Would a new router help?  Or is that the price we pay of living in the woods?

If a new router is in order, are there any suggestions of what to buy?

If you are using the Exede WiFi modem/router, there have been many posts on this forum mentioning that the Exede WiFi modem/router has less coverage than their old 3rd party routers had. Most people just get a new router, or use their old one. ASUS makes good routers, have good coverage and also have a very good data monitoring feature that measures all data that passes through the router from all devices connected. I have been using an ASUS router for several years. Most other routers work well with Exede also.

Thank you Steve.  We are using a Netgear router and the modem from Exede.  I will have to pick up a new router this week.

I also just got a new tower for my PC (I have been running XP!).  I know this forum has mentioned how to turn automatic updates off for Windows 10; I will be searching them next.
