Need Exede's Help With Data Use

Every month I have problems with data usage. The latest is being told that I was close to my limit. Either earlier that day, or the night before , I had checked and it was 5.4G used with 10 days left. When I received their notice it was at 8.8G with 9 days left. The only usage was for web browsing with Safari, Facebook, and the Messenger App. There's no way we used over 3 G doing that.
This has been happening more since the new Liberty plans came out. My husband thinks we are being pressured to give up our Classic, with the Late Night Free Zone. When ever I have contacted Exede about the data problem, they never admit to it being 'on their end', but sometimes a Gb or two will be added to my account. I need help, it is becoming too stressful to get online. Please Help, Thanks, Charlene

I just had to login in here with Facebook. Why? It wouldn't take my Exede login, or let me sign up as new, since my email address is already in use. Very confusingly! So are my posts going to show up on Facebook?

We're still trying to figure out how this much data could've been used in 1 or 2 days, Exede has been working with us. Compensated a little data to tide us over until rollover! Thanks Exede!

FWIW, Facebook uses the newer HTML5 streaming protocol and many videos using it will consume data regardless of whether you watch them or not. See the last post over at:

I'm not sure if there's an add-on for Safari that handles this (strictly a Windows guy now).

facebook can use quite a bit of data also download and run adblock and flashblock it will help it kills all those flashy ads that eat your data and also put them nasty bugs that track your usage which will eat up data fast

I downloaded and installed Weblock last night from Apple's App Store. Should I switch to the other two, run all 3, or give up because I don't know what I'm doing?

My husband and I regularly use FB, but I don't think it could've used over 3G in an afternoon?

make sure you have the auto play videos turned off in you facebook settings on ALL devices if the videos are auto loading it could use 5 GB in just an hour or two if you are uploading photos it will use quite a bit. And it wont hurt to load them I run two flash blockers actually and Adblock plus .........also download this stuff during your late night free zone ...download Spybot and scan your system for those nasty bugs that track you its alot but once you get the adblock and such going you shouldnt have to scan with spybot just about once a month

I got Norton Adblocker. Got it installed and running. Couldn't find anything on Apple's App Store for Flashblock. Weblock is running. I hope this helps. Thanks for the suggestions!

I am on Liberty Pass and monitor usage regularly.   You can burn thru data pretty fast without downloading a movie.  My experience with my equipment has been that their measuring of data used is accurate.

I've been with Wildblue/Exede for around 10 years. I love them, but sometimes a few problems. We've always been able to work them out.
A couple of times charged for data used during LNFZ. Was returned to me. Also, found out that if you start something before MN, it might keep charging after MN.
Usually get knowledgeable phone tech support, recently got an exceptionly knowledgeable one! Would love to have her cellphone number! Also, recently got one that I knew wasn't listening to me or helping with my problem. Let him schedule a tech to come to house. Got off the phone, figured it out by myself, still working great! Forgot to cancel the guy coming to the house. Sorry Exede and local tech guy, if reading.
See so many on here that really don't seem to like Exede, but the people behind these tech support posts, calls, etc... Are human, have feelings, and trying to do their jobs. If you get one that's not helpful, be patient, try again...

Yeah, the tech support people have usually been very nice. I still remember one time I was on the phone with one and my cat kept trying to get my food and I kept saying "no kitty!" and the tech finally said "No kitty! Those are my cheesy poofs!" and we both started laughing and saying we liked South Park.

they assure me both meters are correct even when they both show differently. the esvt and dashboard show 2 different numbers so how can they both be correct?

Botth eSVT and the Dashboard meter show the same for me until I go into the Pass mode, then the eSVT show the actual usage while the Dashboard shows the plan limit, not the additional usage.

I don't even have liberty plan though, the modem was provisioned as Liberty10 even though I have classic exede 10-12. but the technician said it didn't matter? not sure why it would not matter if it is the incorrect plan for them modem seems it would affect service.
