Generally speaking, I have been a huge fan of wildblue/exede.  However, recently I am noticing that we seem to hit our max bandwidth much sooner than normal.   We reached it this month several days before our restart date, so I purchased 1 GB for $10.   I was shocked to find out that we blew through that in 1 day!  Something is definitely wrong.  I see others here posting the same problems.

If I can get some proof of what websites were visiting / what bandwidth was used, I would be wiling to accept that we used up 1 GB so quickly!

Thanks!

Craig, did you ever get an answer?  We seem to go well over the 25 g per month cap too now for some strange reason when we did not used to go over it at all (before wildblue went to excede).   Why are there so many issues with people going over now?  And why is there no detailed account of what is actually being spent on the account?  I would really like to see a detailed account of what is being downloaded every month so I can see why we are always over.

Laura,

Are you on a Wildblue plan or Exede plan?  I'm glad you are concerned with your data usage.  I can give you an idea of what the data is being used on.  There are some third party apps that help you monitor usage as well.  If you would like to discuss more of this matter, please send me an email to exedelistens@viasat.com with your contact information.

Exede now.  I was told by wildblue that we had to switch over because they were switching over.  Unless you are going to give me a detailed list of what is being used, then I am not going to mess with all the emails / phone calls back and forth.  Let me know if you will give me that list and I will email you :)  Thanks!

Laura email david@lakecountrysat.com for a detailed description on where your data is going.

He is a dealer in VA and posts around this forum offering to send you the information you are requesting now, without being one of his customers. He sent me my data info yesterday.  He is a good guy.

I just bought 1 gb late in July because we were getting close.  No clue why.  Now my usage as of July 31 is zero??  has it been reset early?   And where did the extra gigabyte go?  I was going to burn through what was left from July tonight but it does not seem to be there???

ritaresick,

I will be more than happy to view your account details and check on your usage reset date.  It is usually the day before your billing cycle date.  If you send me an email to exedelistens@viasat.com with your account information, I'll check on that for you. Thanks.

Craig same thing here. We have the 10G plan and never used to go over. But the last 5 months or so I think something is off. We run out with at least 10 or so days to go. One morning on our date to recieve the 10G I checked it and we were already down almost 2G and no one had even been on a computer yet. I called and was credited a few Gigs but with no explination how this happened. I love our service but wonder if this is being done to try to get folks to move to more expensive plans?

Marty,

Please make sure that you don't have any programs running in the background even after you have closed them out.  I can provide a few tips and suggestions concerning your data usage if you send me an email to exedelistens@viast.com with your contact information.  Thanks.

David,

Even on low resolution, videos will still consume data.  For more ways to maximize data, please send me an email to exedelistens@viasat.com with your contact information and we'll go from there. Look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks everyone for all the interest in this thread.   For me, I am reasonably sure there was a member of our house that was watching videos on Netflix.  It didn't take long to consume that full Gigabyte.     I think I will send an email to the one that is listed here to find out about the 3rd party apps. It might be good to nail down (for sure) this usage issue.

Craig .. I think I read on this forum yesterday that 1 hour of high quality video equals about 2.5Gb of usage.
