NOT all the time... i DID however helped with this last few months :3 like into december AND november my speeds where AWESOMENESS!!! >:3 BUT!!! when i noticed my speeds where kinda slow... id do a reboot onto my router/modem... BEFORE i call the customer service rep :/ BUT!!! when they didnt get ANY better!!! id have to call them... THEN!!! therefore they ask me to re-do the reboot again DX

i mean come on please!!!! ive told you i DID it at LEAST 2 times!!! ;-; but nooooooo!!! they just said oh well lets do a reboot again to make sure things are going good... THEN!!! I would say turn off the crappy video resolution throttle, but since you are on unlimited you don't have that choice. I haves feeling that has to be impacting YouTube somehow. Perhaps they tweaked itcand now there is a bug?

YouTube has had problems since the December net neutrality fiasco. Coincidence? Maybe. Streams ok for me, but reports abound of buffering and conspiracies. Deku seems to be having speed problems all around though.

Once I made the poor choice of the Silver Plan, I had to get their new modem.  They took control.   IMHO, they now have much more control over your Down load speeds. Now there are a few times I can see as much as 15 Mbps, about 10% of the time, but normally < 3 Mbps.

Can I still view you tube now and then without buffering, yes, sometimes buffering yes, but only 20% of the time. Can I surf the web, teach my classes, yes, should i be happy, ahh.

When you have a very limited resource you have to control it, micro manage it, bandwidth is limited, visa vi, speeds are interrelated, control the speed, you control how much data can be downloaded, and yes the plans are advertised as up to what ever, and no doubt the Modem etc. is capable of that, but the modem can be controlled to provide what the service Viasat, can provide at various times at different locations, beams etc, but you will not convince me that they are not controlling, throttling, based on certain parameters that they have set up in the system.

Men we only have 1 gallon of water for the next week, I will have to do what is best for all of us and Ration the water.

Now some of you are in less congested areas/beams and are enjoying the good life, more power to you.  Enjoy, but Viasat does have an obligation to provide equal at least reasonable service for what they advertise, and they certainly are not doing that.

On a somewhat good note, Do to my work years ago, i never got to watch the Sopranos when it was first on, and since it is available on Demand, I've decided to check it out, so before I go to bed at night i will set up a download of 1 or 2 episodes and overnight, don't really care how long it takes, they get downloaded and then the next day/night i may watch them.  A positive for the plan, as long as you aren't in a hurry, like forget about streaming, just record and that works for me.

We will see what the future holds, i am long out of a contract, so I can leave whenever, but i am still guardedly optimistic, but my optimism is starting to wane.

Note: Reboot, phones, ipads, computers, modems etc. yes it is necessary form time to time, and can result in better operation, but if rebooting the modem is required every time the service drops to 1, 2, or 3 Mbps is required, then Viasat, or should i say WE have problems.

Deku, If you are using the Combo Viasat modem/router, I would suggest that you try using a decent third party router connected to the Viasat modem/router using an Ethernet cable. There have been many reports of terrible speeds caused by the combo modem/router, but speeds through the Ethernet ports are normal.

Any idea when this may have stopped? My router combo works fine. Tested speeds both wired and wireless to be comparable. I also can’t heat my house with mine.

I don't think the router is your problem at all. Just give it some time. Things often clear up on their own.

Deku, I understand that you have tried using a separate router also. Congestion must be the problem, that should be changing in a few weeks once VS2 goes live.

There is an easy way to see how much congestion, or throttling, is happening on your beam and local installation.  Go to https://testmy.net/ and click the "Download Test" button, then manually select the size as 12MB...then watch the progress bar as the test is running..if you see a smooth progress of the download test and you get slow results then it just indicates beam congestion,,,,,if you see the progress bar slow, or stop, in sort of  jerky progress then that also indicates congestion but also that you're being serviced in a cue with other customers, or you may be slowed (throttled) because you have exceeded your data allowance..which for "Unlimited" customers you have exceeded 150GB's...so they are servicing other customers with a higher priority than you because they have not exceeded their data allowance

Using this method you can develop records for time-of-day variations, maybe a weather related problem, or speed variations related to exceeding your data allowance...you are being throttled.

Testmy.net. The best, most reliable speed test for satellite internet. Yet people use a variety of others.

Mine says download is 1.3 Mbps which is 94% slower than the USA average.  Upload is 1.2 Mbps and 83% slower than the USA average. I hope we get some competition in my area soon. They're working on it, I just dont know how long that it will take.

Yeah, we put a man on the moon 40 years a go, but cannot get enough data or speed to stream movies, etc. Pretty sad.

504kbps/63kBps here. Pretty slow and I'm more and more disappointed every day. For the most part I look at the occasional video, i.e.- the recent volcano eruption in HI or maybe a guitar review. Buffers terribly unless I want to watch at 240fps. Sure hope the Viasat folks can do better soon.

I am seeing those speeds during primetime myself. A few hours later I will see north of 9Mbps.
