There is no way Andy would do illegal installs.  And there is no way Andy is stupid enough to say so on this forum with Corporate monitoring.  This has got to be a major misunderstanding. If installers are being told it's O.K. to move customers without having to go thru the "free move" channel and another part of Viasat is saying they can't, then Viasat needs to get this corrected.  This is very disappointing and I'm not sure how to take all this.

This is bad news. I learned a lot from reading Andy's posts. Eventually this forum will be nothing but drive by posters complaining about Viasat 'stealing my data' (it's kind of like that now)

How unfortunate.   From what I've seen, Andy knows his stuff.  His absence will be felt, I'm sure.

I'm with Jim16 on this... There is a breakdown in communication at ViaSat and it must be corrected in a totally civilized manner.  I don't know exactly what to think about Matt B, (Viasat Employee), airing this on this forum when an email with choice words for Andy could have been sent.  Now, everybody sees the situation that was none of our business, but is now.  This situation has far-reaching implications I'll bring forth when the time is right if this is not resolved quickly.

It leaves the impression that Andy is a sleazeball installer that does illegal installs and asks for more money. Not fair to end it like that.

Andy won't be back on HERE. But the internet is a big place, so who knows where he may turn up.

Yep, should have been addressed privately - sounds like typical corporate behavior I've encountered over the years. There's a policy in place, somebody in an authoritative position having no real authority to establish policy comes along and says here's a way around it where nobody gets hurt (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) - except of course the guy following the unofficial policy who gets called out by the guy who didn't see the wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

If it's not an official policy (i.e. having the option to simply pay the retailer for the move to a new residence on the same beam keeping the  existing plan while the retailer upholds the install standards rather than a free move), then it should be.

We actually have computers these days where the new address, new geolocation and any other info associated with an account can be changed in a database rather than creating a whole new account. Once again a lack of common sense yields bad optics that could have been avoided to begin with.

Moving to a new beam, yeah I get it - but the same beam, nope.

Yep...Viasat may (or may not) be the best option when your choices are limited, but, sometimes their policies are abhorrent! Looking at you, Matt B! Very shameful how Andy Schack was treated!

I'm trying my hardest to keep my mouth shut.  Andy will be missed.

What's messed up is dealers lie left and right to sign people up for a quick commision.  Andy was one of the better dealers who put his customers first by being very honest about the product and its limitations.

I have a bad feeling that Andy has been shut down as a Viasat dealer.
