My modem has not yet updated either. They usually update them over a several week period. From the posts on the Wildblue/Exede Worldwide Forum, those that have received the update have not been able to notice any changes.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone.

Happy Holidays HMC1940,
Mine must have auto updated a few weeks ago and is running fine.

Now when I insert my Pringles can between the dish and the receiver, I get HBO. So I got that going for me...

Have not noticed any other differences.

Merry Christmas to you and yours,
Everett

So this is really just a firmware update, not a modem up date right. How did you find your firm where? I did have the address, but cant remember it. Merry Christmas to all my Exede family and hoping that 2015 will be a big change. We all can live and love each other, and stop all this fighting. Life is hard enough right now and if we all do are part and show love, 2015 will be great.

Offhand, I wouldn't be too concerned about having or not having the update yet.

As Steve notes, updates are rolled out over an indeterminate amount of time so as to not impact everyone simultaneously (more out of caution than anything else).

I've had it for several days now, and see no noticeable differences. In the past I had one show up some 2 months after it originally rolled out but it went through several iterations as I recall.

Viasat hasn't explicitly published what the updates include in the past, so we'll probably never know what is specifically included in this one. Hopefully, it addresses some of the unexplained issues others might be having. Just be aware that it's coming to a modem near you or perhaps already has in the event unexplained things start happening that might be attributable to the update - although rare, stuff happens and those of us having it are simply guinea pigs before it's fully released into the wild. Standard engineer practice when dealing with so many moving parts where some of those parts are unknown (i.e. yours vs. theirs). All of the moderators might even have a list of things to be on the lookout for...

It could even be simply setting the stage for a future update on either the client or server. The longer it goes without any newly introduced problems, it's more likely that the roll out may be accelerated.

You guys make me feel ancient, but it is what it is. You are only as old as you feel anyhow.

Have a Merry Christmas. - SRF1945

Contact one of the moderators here at exedelistens@viasat.com... I believe they have a way of forcing an update to occur.

Hi HMC1940, Modems just like any electronic device that is being used on a day to day basis needs to be updated. Some customers have gotten the update and some haven't. I wouldn't worry too much about it, it maybe taking longer to get to your modem.

I had a tech support call where the nice lady told me I had to swap ends of the ethernet cable between the modem and my router to fix my issue....... Uh.... OK,  I'll try anything, but knowing a thing or two about cabling I was extremely skeptical. Then she had me power cycle the modem, then she "did some testing" and the service started working again. I asked her if she did anything and she said:

"No, it was the ends of the cable that needed to be swapped".

I suspect she updated my firmware.

Well Steve, first you get your Pringles can, and of course check it's polarity. Look into can for 5 to 10 minuets. Then flip your nic cable end for end.

Staring into the can makes my head hurt, but it's the best answer I have for the cable flip.☺

While I haven't seen any cables marked differently on their ends, I've observed and experienced this phenom. After investigating turned out to be a slightly worn/damaged contact on one plug - reversing changed the equation enough so that contact could be maintained. I suppose this might apply to the jacks themsleves - but it's tough for the dogs to step on those when attempting to help me move the furniture.

I now understand why my Pringles can won't help my signal at all. I just looked into the can, and there are a couple of chips stuck in the bottom. Thanks for the words of wisdom.

Save them for doomsday   - they have a half-life that approaches that of uranium.

I think that if switching the ends of the cable makes a difference, you need a new cable. Ethernet cables are either straight through connections (the same on either end) or some are crossover, which in essence makes them the same on either end too. They should either work, or not work. If switching ends helps, you need a new cable, or the jack is.....uh, jacked. ;-)
