If it ever displayed correctly, try clearing your browser's cache; alternately try a different browser. Even on the older modems, there are problems when using certain browsers or even when browsers are updated.

clearing cookies/cache and also plugging directly into the modem did not help I still get a black page on the modem page

Try a different browser - always good to have a second one at your disposal for cases like this. Different browsers, different implementations and interpretations of standards - I still use IE for backup purposes when a site just doesn't want to work correctly - I've got a few like that, but then again too few to mention...

Not surprising, like Chrome the Viasat Browser is based on Chromium so I would expect nearly the same results on each. IE, Edge, Waterfox, Firefox... use different code bases although Waterfox is a Firefox variant. Try something that's distanced from the Chromium family. You're reaching the page it appears, but it's not displaying correctly. Programming are hard ;)

Ok I tried chrome, viasat and Firefox same results so it must be a problem with viasat or something! does the modem page work for you?

Yes but I'm on the older modem - I've got no other suggestions but for possibly a modem reboot.

Similar situation with me a few days ago.
So I called Viasat customer service and they said I was in the process of receiving an update.
After I hung up, I could not reach anything through my Ethernet cable. My on-board diagnostics said everything was OK as far as my PC was concerned.

I fixed the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling my network adapter and my home network.

I posted this in more detail today in the thread "DNS Issues Slow". See Judge and Jury's comment on internet settings in that post.

That stupid black screen has been a recurring issue for a couple weeks now. It seems to be worse with Chrome. Happened the other day and I was able to get a good screen with Viasat's browser BUT in the past I've seen it happen on every browser. Really a pain in the butt. It is yet one MORE thing that makes installing these things a pain in the rear.

I'll have to try that CTRL A next time.

That's a lot higher than the signal we get on our large beam....5.2 is about as high as it gets.

I have hit as high as 9.8 now. Which is strange cause initially it was 6.5.

When that happens, run CCleaner or, Eusing's Cleaner on the browsers, reboot and it should work properly. Might not hurt to clean the registry too, while you are running the cleaner. Those two are free to use and, I've used both with no problems ever from the cleaning they do. A cleaner can be a quick way to solve a lot of problems.

Been there, done that Bev. It will give you a black screen for no reason and stop just as quick. ALL other web pages load properly.

If a dealer on the advisory council who relies on this for installs can't report it and get someone to sit up, take notice and investigate,  then we're all in trouble. Hopefully, Andy doesn't need to go through the script readers and the typical "have you turned it off and back on again?"

Everything said here suggests the likelihood of a sporadic page error in setting the background color.

Old Labs, you'd be astounded at some of the things I report 'up the chain" and never hear back on. I never even bothered with this issue because I knew I'd get the "it must be something wrong in your laptop.....nobody else is having this issue."

After a while you learn to pick your battles.

Got to admit, I find it very interesting that a customer is seeing this. I figured it was just some glitch that cleared itself out after provisioning.

I think it's a cookies glitch, it happens rarely to me but, cleaning my browsers always fixes it.

No I wouldn't ;)

Worked as a developer, systems programmer, networking applications for 40 years - seen it all and Dilbert is more truth than fiction - I've sat in meetings where a half dozen highly payed DoD consultants and suits from 3 letter firms discuss how best to correct a simple spelling error, schedule and authorize hours, come up with a test plan and how best to deploy  - I generally left those saying let me know what you decide on. Excess process kills the golden goose.

I check my modem stats on a laptop fairly often and never had this issue using the Viasat browser or Microsoft Edge.

This specific issue appears limited to the new triangular prism shaped modem utilized on Viasat-2.

Not so sure about that.  Bev seems to have had this problem and I think she is on VS-1.  I think I ran into this once when I first got my system , about 15 months ago, and I am on VS-1.

I'm not either, but Bev hasn't made it clear she's discussing this specific issue as shown in the original poster's screen cap ;) Regardless a good programmer would know how to correct it so that it wouldn't occur regardless of environment differences. Of course then he'd have to go through meetings, code reviews, etc. explaining it to folks who most likely couldn't program their way out of a paper bag and in 6 months we'd have a fix ;)

Putt's Law is actually spelled Putz Law, as in Schmuck's Law.

5 days from now it probably will be back to the black screen again. I never know when I hook up my laptop if it's going to display properly or not. Hence, I carry two laptops.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason...one day it works, next day it won't. I've had days where one browser worked while another one didn't, and I've had days where NO browser would work.

FWIW, just had this happen to me within the past day and similar symptoms - for me it was a cached javascript that refused to refresh despite all of the usual attempts (it was either corrupt or updated recently). I eventually got it cleared with a hard refresh - Ctrl+F5 - supported by some browsers but not all, so worth a quick shot next time. In my case that's Waterfox a Firefox variant.

P.S. Might also apply to other pages and other sites that you just know aren't displaying correctly despite everything you do.
