Modem offline.

Most of the time I am 5 hours from my dish. It seems the modem goes offline once a month. What causes the modem to go offline when I am not there? Very annoying not to be able to rely on a failsafe connection .

James, send an email to exedelistens@viasat.com they can look over your account and try to see what's going on with your modem/ account. Send them your account number contact info and reference this post and they will get back with you to see if they can figure out what's going on. If they can't see or figure out what's going on with the modem they will get it to the right people to look in to it deeper.

Only a few possible issues...... cable, connectors....doubtful.... dish out of alignmemt, evident by modem losing connection in the slightest of rain, wind. how long does modem stay off line....what do you do to get it back on? Does this happen often?. Cable....connectors, groundblock, proper alignment.....rest is on exedes satellite...maybe they are doing maintnance on your beam

Thanks for this...doubt there are cable or connector issues.  Drop times do not seem to correspond with bad weather....Signal alignment might possibly be at issue.

This occurs sporadically every three or four weeks and does not seem to correlate with anything.  Fixing it entails unplugging the modem and router and plugging them in again.  This reliably restores service (until it goes down again).

PM means private message. The Wildblue forum is much easier to use, and has some very knowledgeable members who are always willing to help, and it is better organized and easier to follow. In order to pm Jim, you will have to create a sign on in the other forum, then you are good to go. I like the other forum much better.

Lol you beat me to the punch Steve... I was just getting cought up when your message came in.

JD, click on that link that Jim posted and that will take you to the wildblue forum as Steve said then register and once signed in and confirmed your email you can look for Jim over there and have the option to send a private message. Jim is an installer that is how he is able to look at his tools to see if he sees anything on his end to try and help.

Hi JD, normally your modem should not reset unless you physically reset it. I would like to take a look at your account to figure out why this is happening and set up a service call if necessary. Please email exedelistens@viasat.com with your account and contact information. Thank you.

Thanks. I did exactly this yesterday when it was first suggested. Do I need to do again?
