We want to try a program called JamKazam which allows musicians to play together over the internet.  Every time we run the test, it says there is an issue with our network.  We have enabled port forwarding on our router so we think there is an issue with our modem and the network.  Anybody know how to allow port forwarding on the modem?

Hi Nancy,
Check this webpage for how to setup your router for JamKazam:
https://jamkazam.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/1683840-configuring-routers-for-port-forwarding

Check this one also if you think it might be Firewall related:

Hope it helps,
Everett

I'd be surprised if playing live together online will work on any satellite hookup due to the latency (delay) involved.  But that's just my guess.

Thanks, but my husband has tried both of those steps.  We even plugged the computer directly into the modem by ethernet and tried it without the wifi router. This specific program (JamKazam) is supposed to compensate for the latency.  We have a post on their site so hopefully we'll get it figured out.

Nancy, I do worry that the latency that comes with satellite may be too much for JamKazam to compensate far, as it's significantly more than you would have with a wired ISP.

Please let me know what you hear from their customer service and if it's anything we can assist with we're here to help. You may contact us at exedelistens@viasat.com, just include your account and contact information and please reference this post.

It might be something one if the 3 exede employees can look in to for you. I'm sure they will post here before too much longer but you can always shoot them an email and see what they can do

Don't forget the Windows® firewall (if you are using Windows).  That program (JamKazam) may be trying to make an incoming connection that a firewall is blocking.

(my 2 cents)
