Modem getting hot. Is this cool?

It's my first day with Excede (Viasat), and have noticed my speeds have deteriorated since the install at around noon CST today (12/4). While recycling the equipment, I noticed the modem was very hot -- almost too hot to touch. Is this normal, or could this be the cause of my deterioration in speeds?

The latest modem gets very, very hot. It is an issue, but nothing can really be done unless you somehow fix your own fan on the outside of it. I know a few people have actually done this!

The SB2+ (WiFi) Modem does run hot. If it's installed properly, sitting up on its base like it's made to do and, in a room that is kept at normal room temperatures, it shouldn't be a problem.

If however you prefer to keep the room it's in at 90 or so, you may need to give it a fan to help it avoid overheating.

Mine is fine in my living room. Never needed a fan, never had a problem with it.

Thank you, both, for your replies. Good to know. Also, after recycling the modem again (following the "proper steps"), speeds improved. I'm giving it another day or two before I send my (soon to be) former ISP the bad news.
