I was PROMISED two things when I signed up with your company, 150gb a month, along with a download speed of 25. A download speed of 1-2.2 is a long way from 25. There is no movie or video you can watch at those speeds. Towards the end of the first month I call and talk and told I only have 60 gb a month and that can't be changed.

Mark you been lied to, I been a viasat customer for years believe me you never get told the truth. If you have know other choice, but to have satellite for your internet use you just better get use to it because, that is all you will ever get from them.If you do have another choice as soon as my two year contract was up I would kick them to the curve quick.

Pat,
inclement weather at your gateway can affect your service in the same way as inclement weather at your own location, so what tech support told you is correct. Your gateway could be located anywhere, but it's far away from your own location. As an example, I live in New York and my gateway is in Oregon.
One last thing: unless someone doesn't do their homework they don't get satellite internet if cable is available, so telling satellite internet customers to "Get cable for internet" is hollow advice.

Gabe is correct Pat. The gateway's weather can affect your service the same as a thunderstorm at your house. Think of the gateway as "Point A" and your house as "Point B" (maybe C if we want to count the actual satellite in space). We have a handful of gateways and your gateway may not be in your state but if it's nice and sunny in Florida and if the gateway out west is getting pelted on you may be affected.

Mark, did you get any resolution on this issue? I have the same issue....speed at 0.3mbps. Unreal. I know it says speeds up to 25 but seriously how is 0.3 even close and fair? I am checking another provider and I will pay the penalty to get out of my contract...this is stupid. Thanks

What is your general location Carrie? Some beams in the country are pretty congested. Also, are you running these speeds directly connected to the modem or through its wifi? The 25Mbps modem is notorious for having performance issues when connected via wifi.

I'm in southern Iowa. Just got the dish moved to connect to #2. This is connected directly to the modem. The wifi is a JOKE.

If you did get the dish moved to Viasat 2, then you also got a new tria on the dish and a triangle shaped modem now, correct?

VeteranSatUser, Yes this should be the case. If you are put on Viasat-2, a new satellite dish, modem and, tria should be installed. If it is not, as they say, We have a problem Houston!

If you are on Viasat 2 then something is seriously wrong. Since you mentioned 25meg speeds that means you are in a small beam, your speeds should be OVER 25, not under.

I am on Viasat2 and have been getting 45 MPS around the clock. You might have a bad install.

Carrie. Do me a favor and follow up with how your issue was fixed. My money is on the modem being bad.

I'm just confused that the original poster can't watch video with a 1 to 2 mbps connection.

The Bronze and Silver plans stream at less than 2 mbs. I remember one poster that said he couldn't stream at 18 mbs.!

Why just today, I watched a video on how to take a bath in Ramen Noodle Soup that couldn't have taken much more that 400kbps (700 kbps tops) - tomorrow I'm going to learn how to take a bath in donuts and coffee...
