This is my first OP experience on this forum.  I find it difficult to empathize with so many very angry exede clients when my service has been almost trouble free for eight years.  I think a lot of these painful experiences have to do with younger people, many still working full time, unable to take additional hours/ days/ weeks to troubleshoot.  All of us will have internet problems that perplex us to no end.  And the gloomy resolution may include additional costs, time, and customer service discrepancies.  I believe there is no intent on the part of this company to gouge us,  I think this is the nature of satellite internet service.  I went to another site and found reviews for hughes net fared far worse:

http://satellitecomplaints.com/hughesnet-gen4-internet-reviews/

When I moved out to the country, I still had dial-up.  That was unworkable, numerous disconnects.  I am very pleased with eight years of internet service through wildblue, and now exede.  I am thankful they offer this service. For those that are unhappy, other options may be available through other providers.  If I had other options, I would look into it,  always looking for more bang for my buck.  This is not posted to convince dissatisfied  customers that they are wrong in their criticism ,  only that there are others that are enjoying their internet service with exede.

Hi Susan,

Sweet Heart, you are a breath of fresh air ;)

I started out Sunday morning with a cup of coffee and tried to help a few people. I think I did in a couple of cases. But I also took a trashing from a few disgruntled individuals who could not be helped even if I paid for their Gigs.

I was about ready to give it up and never return. I can't imagine what the Exede phone call center gets on a daily basis.

But again, thank you. You've struck a match in my mental dungeon.

Happy Holidays to you and your's.

Everett, I can understand how you feel. After several unkind blasts from at least one individual at those of us who are truly trying to help out subscribers with their issues I chose to sit back and read posts, not sure if I wanted to post anything for fear of being called names, and being accused of being an Exede employee, or an Excede plant on this forum. I don't think the few who are so disappointed in their choice of satellite internet want help as much as they just want to complain. I know that many are having real problems, and when we try to offer suggestions, mostly stuff we have gained from years of being with Wildblue/Exede, they get somewhat defensive toward us. I truly wish every customer had the trouble free service I have enjoyed, and many people share good suggestions to help them out.

Have a happy holiday season.

Hey Everett, and Steve also,  both of you have run the gauntlet.  Just a few words that many of us on this forum appreciate your contributions and also several others, Lab rescuer, etc,  any of those that post in a way that shares knowledge that will help all of us problem solve in the future.  What's that saying, "two heads are better than one."  Your posts are not in vain!  thank you.

It's all just common, everyday road rage on the information superhighway reflective more of the times we live in than anything else.

Someone says this, someone says that, someone misinterprets, etc. and the next thing you know, a hockey game breaks out.

Keep on rollin' down the highway...

Susan - I agree with you.  I also think people sign up for satellite Internet without doing their homework and have unrealistic expectations.  Especially, if they have just moved to the country and were used to FIOS or a good cable connection.  I have been with WildBlue/Exede for over 9 years and it has been just great for my family.

I thinks this is a LOT of the problem. I just can't understand signing a 2 year contract without knowing EXACTLY what you are getting. This includes not knowing you have to ration data and not taking responsibility for locking anything down on your end that uses data. We have 2 people browsing the internet and using email all day on the 10 gig plan and we manage squeak by each month. It can be done, you just have to work at it. We're in hog heaven with the 15 gigs we're getting temporarily.

We were on dial up and that had been our only choice until we got the old Wildblue 12/06/05 and had it until May '11 when we got hit by lightning that took out our Wildblue system among several other things.  We went to Millinicom then because at the time it was cheaper, faster and had more data (and no contract). By the first of the year in 2013 our Verizon tower (Millinicon was a Verizon data reseller) had been going downhill; dial up speeds at times. I hate to be locked into contracts so I dithered, researched and read until March '13, but by then things had got BAD and the LNFZ was calling to me loud. We've had Exede since 03/16/13 and have been very happy with it. Exede is by FAR the best internet we've ever had.

We have had two glitches during this time, one Exede gave our data back and the other was the same day we rolled over, so I didn't bother to call.

Hi Susan--I really like your comment. I'm a little over 2 years with Exede and have been happy with it day one. So nice to hear people commmenting on how good Exede is. Need more people like you,Everett, Jeb the ones who have nice things to say about Exede. The company and people who work for Exede have always been very nice when I have called. Some of the complaints are brutal. Exede is Good. :-)

Hi HMC1940,  Yes, I agree with you, there are two sides to every coin.  Some of the complaints have been very aggressive, not easy reading.  But they have shared their experiences with Exede, now we can share ours.  I'm sure we'll have some internet problem to share on this forum in the future, but I'd prefer to keep communication civil and respectful, that way we can share problem solving in a positive way.  Which reminds me,  I have my cell service through a company that has very little customer service via phone, in fact there is no customer phone number to call,  forum or ticket only.  It has been a great asset for me and quite the learning experience to research others' problems and find what worked for them.  Because of that, the forum has helped resolve my lack of understanding as to how cell phones work and how to correct problems.  They are a wealth of information.  This forum should be the same, a platform to share experiences with the product, what worked, what didn't.

That was very well put. Where I live there is no cell service. Just good old landline.  But I have a lot on this forum. You have a nice day Susan. In fact all of you have a nice day.

Someone asked me if I thought this forum was overly heated with disgruntled commentators. I thought about it and did agree. There was more negative activity than positive.

And while I would be the first to agree technology’s little black box’s will at time fail or become faulty. The fix is not a hammer and a lot of cussing, it’s reasoning, simple, sometimes time consuming. But an answer can be found and explained for all to understand and make use of later.

This forum post “Happy with Exede” is an unusual one. There are no negative comments in this post. When I first took notice of it, I thought, this isn’t right, someone posted on the wrong forum. What is this heap of happy stuff? When will you break the knife off in my back?

I was disgruntled, heated around the collar area. I was negative. I was preparing to attack a different negative post with more gusto. Pore oil on the fire.

Kimberly gently slapped me back to reality, or as I like to put it, “Mom Moderated Me”. Rightly so, I was going nowhere with anymore comments.

So my endeavor now is to help create more positive post than there are negative ones. They might start out dirty and foul, but I will try to help resolve the issue, or put a band aid on the problem’s I can’t fix until better help arrives.

Exede is what I’ve got. I want to be Happy with Exede.

Oh, one more thing I learned about Kimberly after she knocked me in the head and made me stand in the corner, she’s a blond. So;

Kimberly is standing on one side of the information highway, and another blond walks up on the opposite side and ask “How do you get to the other side?”
Kimberly answers, “You are on the other side!”

Ha, had to get that in. Forgive me Kimberly, you might not have a heart of gold, but it has to be brass with the abuse you and the other K-Girls handle.

Happy Holiday’s

Everett.

In a quixotic quest to overcome the speed of light, I set about to save you from  that unfortunate fate you suffered several days ago when you were 700ms too late.

As I approached that barrier while dashing in to get a cup of coffee this AM at the local convenience store, I had you in my sights - I knew it was you, I saw you.

Unfortunately, I tripped over the curb and missed you by that much. I did stop by the local Walmart on the way home and picked up a Mr. Fusion and am perusing the manual now. I'll give it a go in a couple of days once I've recovered from some pretty serious rug burns suffered on the artificial grass carpet by the door. Apparently noticeable, since I was greeted with "Welcome to Walmart... what's up with the rug burns?"

If you see a beat up old pickup truck hurtling your way with a dog hanging his head out the passenger window, you'll know it's me.

Happy Holidays to all from Dog-guy.

LOL Everett, your sense of humor is very much appreciated by all of us working here. (: Thank you as well for not taking my "calm it down" posts too personally. I always look forward to seeing your comments and helpful hints. Keep it up!
