Ebay might be a better option for a dish. As for the TRIA, which is what the LNB really is (Television dishes have LNBs) has to be returned when you cancel the service so, it won't be easy finding a used one.

Bev, thanks for that information . We have a very similar service in the UK called Tooway also made by Viasat but they normally let you keep the Tria since you can buy the kit outright . I am assuming Exede and wild blue use the same tria and dish  ie the one with the two arms that hold the tria .

I have seen pictures of some Exede dishes that have a single arm to hold the TRIA. Mine has two parallel arms and, most I've seen do as well but, apparently some have just a single arm.

Your best bet might be to contact a local Tooway dealer or look for a used Tooway dish for sale.

Wildblue was like that, you bought the equipment but, with Exede, we lease our equipment so, if we cancel we have to return the modem and Tria. I do have an old WildBlue dish but, the TRIA and arms that hold it are broken and, the dish is bent because a tree fell on it so, I don't think that would help you.

Bev I have  created a steerable dish system for the Tooway dish and would like to see if I can do the same for the Wildblue / Exede system , From what I can see from pictures on the internet they are very , very similar in shape and design but not exact. In order for me to get my CAD man to work on this I need the dish you describe to take accurate measurements. Have a look at the attached photo  we are still making adjustments but it works fine .

That looks pretty cool Ron. I don't know how we'd be able to send you a dish. The reflector plates and arms are probably easy to get on a secondary market since we never ask for those back. Our TRIAs however are leased and we don't sell those. You might have luck browsing through ViaSat's page for a contact and maybe finding someone that can maybe send you this.

Thank you for your comments .

The attached photo shows the specific type of dish made by Exede that I am after getting my hands on so I can measure the relations ship between the TRIA and the dish. I am confident they are almost identical if not very close to the size to the Tooway system .

The other types of Exede  dish setups as you are aware have single arms for the TRIA or another off set reflector. These are unsuitable for what I have in mind.

Once I have my hands on a dish and the arms I can alter the CAD drawing accordingly.

I would imagine he TRIA in this instance is identical physically to the one used in your own system . If I send you a photo my TRIA the  dimensions of the support arms etc would you be able to confirm this ?

My aim would be to supply the mechanical parts as a kit . It would be up to the individual to supply their own dish , dish back plate and TRIA . The arms we could supply .

The pan and tilt motor is from Ebay.com . We have created a hand control unit that enables the dish to be moved very slowly into position.

Sick mate! I love it. I'm sure someone will sell you a dish, shipping to the UK might be a bit crazy though. Maybe someone has an old WildBlue TRIA form back when we did buy the equipment and isn't using it, or it got left when they upgraded to Exede. It might still pick up signal enough for you to test your mobile system.

Just patent it, I'm sure Viasat and any other satellite provider would be very interested in an affordable mobile unit for RV/residential use.

I have an old blue Wild Blue dish and tria that I just took down. It is in pieces now since I was just saving the nuts and bolts but it is all complete.   It may be what you are looking for.

It looks like I have the same dish that Bev has but mine is in an unbent condition.

I e-mailed you a couple of pictures of the dish taken a few years ago.

Mark , thank you so much for the pictures .

I noted that your dish had another reflector in addition to the the dish and that the TRIA was off set.  Unbent is good lol it makes measuring a lot easier .

This off set TRIA is a radical departure from what I had in mind but it might be doable. I''ll email you privately to discuss cost etc .

However the attach shows my own Tooway dish at home compared with the Exide. They are similar if not identical. It would be very easy to adapt the design to suit the Exide

Hi Ron,

Yes my dish is a very old Wild Blue set up from the late 90's or early 00's. The Tria is mounted under the twin arms. I don't think it is what you are looking for . Shame,  you could have saved it from the scrap yard. LOL

It uses a dual coax setup.
