when we got this service several months ago the liberty pass performance was good, you could watch short videos easily and even stream Apple Music. Now a days you can't watch a 15 second Facebook video without it buffering every 2 seconds, what's the deal??

Justin, would you mind saying where it is that you live?  I am interested since Exede performance for different service options may vary from location to location, due to factors such as overall usage in that area at various times/whether congestion is a problem, or how much of a problem congestion may be.

Hi Justin, I apologize if your speeds are causing you issues.  Please send us you account and contact information so we can check out what may be causing this.  Thanks so much!

Justin - For what it's worth, Liberty Pass performance in Virginia (Beam 329) has really deteriorated during prime time.  Used to be fine in the evenings, but not this current cycle..  I do still get good Pass speeds in the mornings and early afternoon.

JEP, Has it deteriorated to the point where it interferes/prevents you from doing what you want to online during prime time?
Ironically, in next door beam 328 I am continuing to see my usage of data declining, but not actually because I am using less data--because of slower speeds, my usage under those conditions uses less data....so I can actually do more streaming during prime time hours, since I still don't wind up going over my 10gb/month allowance.  (I don't mean to imply though that I can stream to my heart's content...that isn't at all the way it is...I can just do some streaming that I can't do when the speeds are faster, because with faster speeds doesn't take much streaming to use all my data).

So, as long as I can still do my usual online activities, I am ok...but don't know what will happen in the future if these trends toward increasing congestion continue.

And I continue to wonder if Exede customers switching to the Liberty pass is actually going to help the congestion problem or will it make it even worse.  Since I think only Liberty plans are available in those beams for new customers, I wonder if this changeover to more Liberty pass might already be causing increased congestion in prime time?  Time will tell, I guess,.

Lorriel - Simple browsing is almost impossible in the evenings when on Liberty Pass.  Email seems to trickle in and is still usable.

Come to find out our slowing is 100% intentionally caused by Exede, according to their CS rep and the fine print in the contract if you use too much data they will further slow(basically stop), your service.

I have not been having any problems viewing emails and most web pages while in the Pass. Most videos do some buffering, but overall the Pass is working pretty good.

I think it depends on the level of congestion in the beam that provides your coverage.  Beam 329, where I am located, is very congested and while morning and early afternoon Liberty Pass performance is fine, after 5-7 PM is abysmal.

What does "too much" data mean, exactly?

I have not observed any difference between 2 GB over and 15 GB over.  That's probably been my worst overage.

From what i can tell it is 100% at their discretion, and dependent upon how busy the network is...good times.  The last rep laughed at me and said you've used 1245% of your allotted data, apparantly this is too much.

Out of curiosity can I downgrade to the base package without penalty?  The Liberty Pass is completely pointless for us since we are being penalized for overuse.

Hi Justin,

You can change to any plan currently available in your area with no change fee. If you go to Exede.com and enter your zip code, it will show you your options.
