Large outage - are others seeing this?

We have been up and mostly down since 3:45 AM EDT today. Of course on deadline for our magazine. Any others experiencing outage? Sat modem just blinking on receive. Down detector shows a large outage area over eastern US but see nothing official from Exede. We are in central Virginia near Charlottesville.

And their biz customer support doesn't open until 7 or 8 am mountain time.

Tommy,  I'm near Lake Monticello off Ruritan Lake Rd. and have had no issues this morning.  I've had more issues with Dish in/out this morning.  Maybe it's an atmospherical phenomema...

Thanks Rob. It's acting almost like rain fade. So I am wondering if it's something like you described.

Tommy,

Do you get more bandwidth as business class?

Yes. But terribly expensive. But since we are a publishing / magazine company. We had no choice. There's no other options where we are. 100GB is 300 dollars a month.

Thanks for reply Spinninghorse. Odd - since we are business class we can get tech support until 9 eastern. Since our support is in Denver.

Up and running fine here in Virginia (Beam 329) with no outages noticed over the past 2-1/2 days (albeit typically slow during peak hours).

FWIW, yours is the second or third recent post citing downdetector so took a look at it. Seems they scour social media for outage reports by individuals. Digging into the statistics behind that heat map, there doesn't appear to be a large enough sample size collected of Exede users for it to be a reliable indicator of any widespread Exede outages when contrasted with the numbers of the major ISP players.

I don't have much confidence in the downdetector website. As Old Labs said, it just appears to be reports of outages they find on social media sites. Several times in the past week I have been in the area that they claim are havig outages, but I have not had any outages for several days. But as they say, "it must be accurate, because I saw it on the internet!"

Oh. I totally get that. The tech dept in Denver did call back and verified the outage in the area and thought perhaps it was weather. But not so. All working fine now. So we will probably never know.

Thanks. Something definitely up. Others nearby going down at same time. Then come back up. Strange.

Just came back online in SW Arkansas - major storms had it offline for a while. I imagine Dallas to Memphis at least is having problems due to weather this morning.
