I believe the post is understandable Started with 10, had used 7.5 in first week. Upgraded to 15 gigs was out by end of 2nd week. Purchased 3 more, have had it shut down for last 3 days, now have used 17.2 with 8 days to go. Do not download or stream movies, tv, watch very few short videos. Mostly surfing. What is up?

Join the club! Been fighting Exede unique way of counting data, (unique in that it is much higher than data counts on my end, and many others experiencing the same issue) since January. Several times they acknowledged there was an issue, however still no resolution. Frustrating to say the least! Still waiting for answers over eight months later. Many have filed complaints with BBB, FCC, FTC, State attorney Generals Consumer Protection Divisions, and United States Attorney Offices.

Can you switch to a plan that allows for night free time? There are different plans depending on where you live. Then you can download stuff during the free time and it won't count against your metered allowance.  YouTube videos, movies, and stuff like that will eat up your bandwidth quick.  I was going to go with the 150/month (no free time), but decided to go lower to get free time, since now basic email and browsing doesn't count, but I don't know how they know the difference.   I needed to retain the free time for back-up to the cloud, as I create lots of graphics that need to be backed up.  I am in the TB's on backups, which runs in the background from my back-up program, which I have set to run only during the free time.

Been past my 15 GB allowance since the 11th - willl reset on the 20th. I decided to not buy any more and just crawl to the 20th. Email is OK, some web browsing is OK too. We'll make it. I discovered that one of my daughter's was watching youtube videos and some OTHER videos. I also opted to download Windows 10 to one of my computers - BIG mistake. This all happend before I reached my 15 GB cap. The irony is that after Windows 10 installed I actually liked it - HOWEVER some of the games that my kids like to play (Microsoft Games) would not work. These games also were not using the internet - a ++ for me. So I pulled the plug on Windows 10 and went back to Windows 7. The diig is I keep getting ADs on my Windows machine to upgrade to Windows 10. I may do one of my other Windows machine but I'll do it at my Sister-in-Law's" - she has Unlimited WiFi. Not sure how Exede calculates data useage - examining every data packet - stripping out the MAC address of the satelite modem or querieng each modem for this information. I wonder if they also count - "retransmit" request when the weather is BAD or their is a weak connection, ...? Anyhow if one has SEVERAL connected devices - PC, Ipads, Smart Phones, ... - one should check to see if some "Cloud" service is being used which could be one of the culprits. For instance APPLE devices the default is to BACKUP to the cloud - if you take alot of pictures?
