Slower speeds, higher usage after two years.

I have used Exede for about 3 years. Just a few months ago, I experienced a giant reduction in speed and ability to view videos. I never had an issue. Over 2 years without a problem, but now, every month I reach my cap. Why now?

because they want to throttle you ... I've had the same issue for months . Also if you call to get your dish serviced they give you a phone number to a business that is defunct... good luck.. and you can call the office and get the canned spam response you are youtubing,, you are watching videos.. you are streaming movies.. you are on facebook 24 hours a day.. when you are not.. so good luck. If you were alone with this issue I would have sympathy for you but believe me you are not alone.

K, EXEDE and I converse on this subject every month. I received a message today, informing me I have now used 70% of my allowed data, and today is the middle of the month. That's okay. Let them ignore me. I have been compiling a list of what people complain about via this forum. The FCC will get a file of these unrequited complaints, and the Texas state attorney general as will the BBB. I'll do some research for an attorney, and tell him this story also. I am funny about money, especially when I am getting robbed. Stand by. I'll be back with more details.

Or more likely, your dish is out of alignment.  This will cause both of the symptoms you are describing, slow speeds and excessive data usage.  Call support, or email here, have them check your dish.  A quick service call will likely fix both of your issues.

I find it odd, a company that has sophisticated electronics, able to control the whatever waves they are, has to have the customer email their info to the company to even begin service on their account with an issue.. Surely EXEDE is sophisticated enough to know who I am, without me telling them? Also, just exactly do the computer nerds do all day over there? I would think if I was devouring data at warp speed, EXEDE would be the first to know, and take whatever necessary steps to rectify the problem and MAYBE inform me they had repaired my account. I get the feeling, EXEDE is two guys, living on the second floor of their Mother's house, running this entire shebang, with a minimum of people and electronics.

I was also told I might need an adjustment on the ODU  (acronym for outdoor unit).. They gave me an order number and gave me a local technician to call .. HAHAHA..... the business phone number they gave me has a voice mailbox that uses Magic Jack phone service and "is not taking phone calls currently".. so who do I get to service my OUTDOOR UNIT now? anyone?

Go to Exede's website and on there you can search for local dealers.  Find you one that is elite certified and have them come out and take a look at your dish and see what they have to say.

I was told by someone who works in this industry that after you have been with a satellite Internet company a while (after contract) they put you on the "back burner" meaning slower speeds bc they know you are going to cap out every month so why give you fast speeds.

Peggye, what you heard maybe true. Watching people detailing their issues with EXEDE, I find an alarming amount of stories, just like mine. For almost two years, I didn't hear a peep from EXEDE. I am disabled, retired, live alone, and the internet is my window on the world. A creature of habit, I operated my computer along tried and true guidelines. BING! After two years of not even being AWARE there was a data cap, I began running out of data, sometimes in the first half of the billing period. I went ballistic. I was told it was all my fault, that I had incorrect settings, yadda yadda. Much more of this bad business deal I have made with EXEDE, and I'll look up their nearest office and go pay them a visit, in person. Sometimes, the personal touch makes all the difference. Going stupid in their crowded public area, also works. I'll be back with more details.
