Is Viasat 2 fake news?

All the hype over Viasat 2 since 2013, when I signed on, and it is now April (darn near), almost a year since it went airborne, and no change in speeds and that is a problem for those of us in rural Virginia - as it has been for how many years? I am at a loss.  I had a new plan added to my offerings. There are now 3 being offered to me - all 12 Mbps. Nothing new in speed. Nothing. I just checked to see what plans were being offered to new customers in my area and there are no plans - it says there is no room for new customers right now. What am I missing. Move me to Viasat 2 and someone can have my slot on Viasat 1.

For whatever reason (and there are various theories why), Viasat-2 availability is rolling out at a snails pace. I can't imagine this was the original rollout plan as envisioned.

I'm just hoping the stock goes back up on Monday.  I'm too broke to buy more stock right now but I have no other choice but to buy extra stock if it goes down again.

I guess that is one of those "Time will tell" things and my sources will have to "cough up" on a bet.  I do hope you're right (because I'll win, but their evidence is somewhat persuasive at this time, and I never bet against Viasat but have lost more than once).

Boy I wish I was still a champion so I could go to those top secret meetings.

Champions go to meetings?  You mean like AA?
Do they have to go.. or their out?  Maybe that's why you're not a champion anymore, you missed too many meetings.  We don't see much of Bev anymore... wonder if that's what happened to her.

She is writing a book or something. Maybe testing a secret Electronic Arts game. Hard to tell with her.

Viasat 2 does appear to be fake news for residential customers. New plans just showed up for me and they are all Liberty plans with 12 Mbps speeds. Viasat 2 was said to be bringing this incredible new service to all of us and so far it has brought nothing.

I guess what we need to hope for is other options so that we can leave Viasat with their customers - corporations and military. I get it. That is where the money is. We are the bottom feeders that Viasat tolerates.

I just signed into my account and I had some amazing new plans show up.  Liberty 25 for $75 a month and Liberty 50 for $100 a month.

If you ask me, these plans are far better than any of the new "unlimited" plans.  Unlimited plans have data thresholds just like the Liberty plans, however the unlimited plans reduce your video quality.

Liberty plans let you use your priority data however you want, and are virtually unlimited even after you use your priority data.  You just can't stream video during prime time if you are out of priority data.  Of course, there are ways to get around that such as what I am doing with my Playon/Plex server.  I basically watch what I want, when I want, without using any of my priority data.

Here is something to think about.  Many "unlimited" customers are reporting that they use less than 50 GB a month.  I think I remember reading on here that some people are on unlimited and using around 30 GB.  Those people would be much better off on a Liberty plan if you ask me.

That's just my two cents though.  I have no plans to ditch my Liberty 12 plan.  My billing cycle restarts on the 4th and I still have 2.5 GB of priority data left on a 12 GB plan.  I have used 273 GB of data this month thanks to Playon, Internet Download Manager, and the late night free zone.

I still maintain that Liberty 12 for $50 a month ($60 plus tax after modem rental) is the best deal out there.

Of course, the Freedom plan is nice too, if you don't go over 150 GB a month.

Had this not been available to me, I probably wouldn't have switched back to Viasat from AT&T.

I agree. Freedom and Liberty were the best plans. But thanks to the marketing department, they just had to sell these fake "unlimited" plans like everybody else.

Free zone is the great feature!

I gave mine up for Freedom, but since i don't bump against the 150GB, I don't mind. I still do downloading batch files at night, but that is because I can download Netflix at 1080p. It is so slow during primetime for me, I can't watch Netflix at even 280p. Sad.
