I recently activated my Exede voice and now my family and friends are having to call the area code to reach me.  Does this mean they are being charged for a long distance call?

Thats a good question and I think the answer is probably yes, but in time you will learn to hate the phone's quality, Kim will be here tomorrow to give you the help you need.

I have had Exede Voice since June 2013, and I have to say the voice quality is much better than my Verizon land line has been in years, and better than Verizon cell calls. The only thing is the delay, which isn't that noticeable, as for the taxes, as Ray said, are determined by your local taxing authorities. Mine are not as much as I was paying on my land line. I have nothing but positive comments about Exede Voice.

I am not sure of why you area would be much different then mine, when it comes to a the telephone. But is been about 3 years now that we have always had to dial the are code to place a call. This is nothing new for us and its been the same way with any of the phone company we have used, even after we moved into a new state. I think the quality of a VOIP depends on the speed of you service.

I just joined nettalk and the only reason we have a home phone if for the alarm system, otherwise we just use cell phones. Netphone has a pretty good deal, you pay for one year in advance and get 4 years total. Not a bad deal and it sounds good, but there is a little delay. For me is a perfect deal.

My area started requiring all the numbers over 5 years ago, prior to that it didn't.  If the number "looks" local, it's a local call.  But if it requires dialing all the numbers, and none of your other local numbers do, then it's long distance.

I am barely in cell range, but I use Straight Talk home phone connect on Verizon towers.  $16 with tax for unlimited calls.  MUCH better quality than the ancient landline.  No cracking, static, etc. like it did.  Cell service in general is excellent here, never had a dropped call if in range, excellent clear quality.  Less than half price of the landline that only had local calls.
