Phishing attempt to beware of

Seem to be getting my fair share of Phishing exercises as of late, although not always sure. Is the following legit, as it is grammatically incorrect? Dear subscriber, We have successfully move all wildblue.net email accounts off of the Google
email platform to our new platform for email services and database.

Due to this effect some we are unable to bill Visa card/ please update your
account with a master card and update your account. If you already have master
card please update your card. We apologize for any confusion.

 

To avoid closure or suspension of your account, you are obliged to update
your new payment information on your account.

Ken, this is definitely another attempt at phishing. Do not click on any links, and do not give out any information requested. They are attempting to gather your personal information and credit card info. There have been many posts about this on this forum.

If you still have the email, please forward it to exedelistens@viasat.com so they can forward it to their tech security team.

It is definitely a fraudulent phishing attempt. You're right that the ungrammatical English is a clue, but the biggest clue is that no reputable company ever sends you an email with a request to click a link and enter your credit card or ID information.   If you receive an email like this, you can always go directly to the company's website with your browser, NOT by the link in the email that will be phony, to check if there is a legitimate alert.

Same thing here. The bad grammar was my first clue. I've but I've also been trying to login to check my data usage and it doesn't let me.

Exede seems to have been "DAP'd"  (hee hee) on their web security certificate.  There is a post about it  HERE.

LOL. Not quite dapped but they warned us this would happen multiple times and our web guys had the new certificate all teed up to switch over. Apparently that didn't go quite as planned so it may be Monday before we get this patched up. Apologize for any inconvenience.

We've had plenty of emails forwarded for this and has since been escalated to our security team. Exede will never email you asking for you to send your account or payment information. You can always call  855-463-9333 or log into my.exede.net to review your account information. Above all, since this is an oft-repeated line in these phishing attempts;

Email migration HAS ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER on your recurring payments. That should be the tell-tale sign as an email account won't be tied into your payment information.

Good suggestion, like the HughesNet Community,which also uses GetSatisfaction ViaSat would do well to beef up the Message from Exede Internet sidebar on the left of the home page.
