Would I make sure I have a computer during your initial install of equipment or is my iPad sufficient?

Your iPad should be fine. Your installer will have his own laptop to get the system up and running. You will need to have a wireless router to connect to your new modem, so the iPad can connect to your wireless network. The Exede Surfbeam 2 modem does not have the wireless radio in it, only an ethernet connection that will connect to your router.

Many installers bring along their own laptops for situations like this. Best to let your installer (once assigned - or selected if ordering through a dealer, which is my preference) know in advance what to expect to ensure no unnecessary trips are involved  - but part of the standard install is ensuring the customer has Internet access. Since you've got an iPad I assume you also have or will need a wireless router.

You might want to review the installation standards in advance:

so as to know what to expect from your install - the key to your future happiness with Exede is a quality install above all else.

One small wrinkle is that the installer is supposed to help you set up your online account for (billing and checking usage.) and I think leave a bookmark.  If he isn't familiar with the iPad, you may have to help him too. As far as I know, any browser should work.

Hello Carol, having a computer at your residence would be greatly helpful at the time of install, but it’s not necessary. What you would want to make sure is to have at least a router present for connectivity. 9 times out of 10 the installer should come with their own laptop to complete the install correctly.  Your iPad should be more than sufficient enough. :-)

Thanks all! It's not my house so installer can't set my laptop up for an online account. Can I just give him the email/phone no. of the owner of the house at time of of install?
