Hi computer1949,  The Unlimited 50 plans, which will require new equipment, is a Viasat-2 Plan.

You people are out of your mind for crying about the possibility of speeds slowing after using up your priority data on the new plans.  Those clauses were put their by lawyers to protect Viasat IF things slow down.  Notice I put IF in capital letters.

Viasat 1 has a capacity of 140 Gbit/s

Viasat 2 has a capacity of 300 Gbit/s

In essence, Viasat more than tripled their capacity with the new satellite going live.  Once Viasat balances things out by moving enough customers to the new bird, the chances of you getting slowed down once you've hit your "unlimited' data threshold are going to be very slim for quite some time.

Oh and don't forget, Viasat 3 is going to go live in a few years and will have a capacity of 1000 Gbit/s.

You doom and gloom people who keep thinking Viasat is just going to get worse and worse have lost your minds.

Not sure why they would be out of their minds if thats what they have historically seen and gotten delivered so far , its up to this company to make good on the promises they make and change their minds . I'm sure they have all good intentions  of doing so but the last few months have left a bad taste in everyones mouth , yes it was a calculated risk to release those 150gb plans early when they were obviously oversold and at capacity and make no mistake about it they have established themselves as the leader in this space but at the customers expense . I'm sure the design they put in place was the best on what they knew at the time but technology changes fast so who knows what can happen in a year or 2

computer 1949,

There's no need to create new posts for your questions.  We'll see you and respond!!

To answer your question, if it's available in your area, you will be asked to sign a new 24-month agreement.  There's no upfront charge at this time.
