Does the satellite dish really have to be grounded? If so, what are the requirements? An installation technician told us the dish would have to be grounded to a water main, as there were no other good options at our site, and so the dish would have to be installed either on the front of our house or on a pole on the side with ugly green and white wires running across and down our brown exterior walls -- not an acceptable option. We were told it could not be located where we wanted it installed, on the opposite side of the house with a clear view to the south, and closer to where the line would go inside for the modem. Are the grounding and other installation rules really so strict? Aren't there other options for grounding a dish so you can locate it in an acceptable spot?
