Data use issue

My data was reset on 5/8 and I looked at my data usage at noon on the 8th and I had already used 6.3GB of data. I was only reading email and some news. No youtube, etc. I normally use about 100MB/day.

Updates for any connected device most likely. Windows 10 is a big culprit for massive data use in a short time.

Call Exede at 855-463-9333 or, email them at exedelistens@viasat.com and they can review your usage and help you figure out what happened.

How Many are connected?

Last month I used 7 GB of data on the first day of my billing cycle thanks to WIndows Updates and Android App Updates.  I have put a firewall on my system now that tracks almost all usage and definitely tracks usage by day so I can ensure that I can keep a very close eye on what gets used and when and in just those few days you would be surprised at the things that are getting blocked and where the data gets eaten up so quickly.

The other problem is sites are exponentially increasing the amount of data used for even just simple pages.  This is due to the fact that *most* people have access to relatively high speed internet with pretty high caps (if any at all).  Unfortunately Exede has not been able to keep pace with the increasing plans to match the needed additional data.  We are waiting for the new satellite that is supposed to be in orbit by now but due to problems at SpaceX has been delayed until next year with going live.

Thanks Brian, I am using Win10 on 2 devices. I have now turned off automatic updates. I am using a netgear router. What software are you using to track your usage?

I had the same problem.... in two days I went through 10gb (supposedly)  The majority was listed as web browsing.  I've had exceed for two years and burning through 2 gb in a day would be extreme for me. Somehow I went through 5gb a day.  I called and they helped me out with 5gb extra.
