I'm trying to watch Netflix but cannot find a way to set the data lower

I cannot find the option under settings to change the resolution on Netflix, right now I cannot watch anything on there, I'm on the unlimited silver and should be able to watch a video now and then on Netflix. Can anyone help? there is no option under my account or settings to change anything like playback settings

If you are on unlimited Silver you are already restricted to 480p video. There is no action needed on your part.

You can try setting the quality to low using a Netflix profile:


Not sure that will have any impact duing prime time since Netflix automatically performs per-title encode optimization to select the most suitable quality (and therefore bitrate) based on current network conditions to deliver the "best" experience whilke minimizing playback buffering that results in stuttering.

However, it really sounds like during prime time hours there's insufficient overall bandwidth available for video streaming. While Viasat is auto throttling your video streaming rate to support 480P (some evidence suggests that the speed is thottled to 1.5 Mbps on Silver plans), there's no guarantee that even that is obtainable during prime time particularly if you've gone over your 150GB and are now "de-prioritized".

Try during non-prime time hours to see if there's a difference - but until after the holidays and more bandwidth becomes available with Viasat-2, she canna' take much more o' this cap'n! Visat-1 is tapped out on most beams, IMHO.
