I have a tablet and 2 phones. Only using about 8gb a month according to the device. After only 2 weeks into cycle in getting a notice we've used all. Not possible. Ridiculous. I even try to download updates, books etc when I'm in 4g instead of issuing my own wifi.

I guess i would be curious where you are seeing the 8GB per month usage on your device. Most devices will not report on data usage while connected to wifi, only the usage over the cellular network. I recently started using a router that keeps track of total usage on my link to exede and the numbers it reports are pretty much exactly what is displayed on the exede website. 10GB of data is not a lot of data these days, I don't do a lot of streaming, and 10GB would probably last me about a week.

10,000 MB (10 GB) is only 333 MB on average per day. A Win10 operating system, which has no to very limited control of updates, Can burn through that in a hurry if it gets stuck in the download/fail/fallback mode that is occurring to many users.

Then there is the potential of virus-malware activity.

LOL, Good Luck Margie. Join the crowd. You'll get every answer in the book as to what's wrong. Get with them, give them your info to have them look at things, My guess is you are going to get the classic, "Your system is updating" and eating your data. Again, good luck and welcome to Exede.

My ASUS router has a data monitoring app, it reports what Exede's meter reports within a very small margin.

My peplink balance 20 router gives me the following reporting. It becomes very easy to figure out who is using the data. This is for the current month of october.

FWIW - #1 on the list is my work computer that I use for telecommuting 5 days a week.  The 3rd highest user is a directv receiver(!) that downloaded some HD Video on demand programming, and number 5 is a TV(!) that runs netflix once a week. 2 out of the top 8 are android phones that downloaded new software yesterday. If I check "data usage" on my phone it shows it has used 651MB this month. My router tells another story with 5.03GB of data downloaded over my wifi link by that same device.

I was pretty shocked when I first started using the router and saw where the data was going.

I do have 2 internet connections  - one that is capped at 350GB - so systems that are consistently using large amounts of data are routed down the link with the higher cap by the peplink router.

I just signed up for the freedom package and am very much looking forward to being able to tell my router that the exede link has gone from a 30GB cap to 150GB. :-)
