If you have a cable option go with it!

Alright, so after reading yet another post about someone who had a cable option and went with Exede and is now unsatisfied with what they have, I feel like i should make a post about it.

If you have cable options where you live, do NOT get satellite internet.  It's just that simple, if you want worse service for more money, then go ahead, but if you want low latency, good speed and to spend less money on it go with that cable option.  I think Exede is changing the game when it comes to satellite, so don't take this as me just being a hater, it is simply a fact that land ISP's have much better service for less.

I do not have any other options and no options in the foreseeable future, but for those that do have options such as cable do yourself a favor before getting internet, don't just look at the advertised internet speed and go "well i'll get that then" just don't.  With cable service you're probably getting unlimited or almost unlimited data by default, ultra low latency and decent speeds at the very least, but often they are amazing.  So, for those of you who have cable options and might be looking here wondering if satellite is better and somehow still haven't figured out that it is not based on the numerous of other posts.

Take a hint, do your research.  I'll say that 9 times out of 10 cable is going to be the better option and that 1 out of 10 is because of some ultra niche reason.

And thus my rants ends, have a good day.

Marika, you are right, if one can get cable internet,m that's the way to go, if old DSL, Dialup and Satellite are the only option, then Satellite is the way to go and, of the two major satellite internet providers, Viasat/Exede is the better option.

If latency only is your concern, satellite is not a good option, for speed it does beat dsl and dial up and, a few cable providers in some areas.

Cellular data may be comparable on speed and, better on latency but, every company I have been able to read the policies of throttles you to near, or below dial up speed after something in the neighborhood of 25 GB used. Exede now offers unlimited plans with no hard throttling at all and, even a 50 GB plan before being throttle is roughly twice what a cellular provider will give you.

Yeah, for me latency isn't a big deal, so while it would be nice cause I do occasionally voice chat over the internet and latency can mess that up, it's still something i only occasionally do.  It's the large amount of data that cable typically offers and cable more often than not beats Satellite in terms of speed. I understand Satellite is better than dial-up and such, but if modern cable options are available I feel they are going to be the best choice lol.
