They plan to launch 900 satellites world-wide. That should help with the congestion problem.

Ya think??  Thank you for sharing this. I had not heard of it before. They mention lower latency for aircraft, but nothing said about the latency on the planet. I will be following their progress.

Plans have no affect. I will believe it when I see some reality.

I'm hoping that these companies plans work out like they're stating. More competition for us rural folks is a good thing in my opinion. My only choices for internet at this time are Viasat and Hughes.

I hope so to fmj, another one to look out for is Microsoft, they plan to use tv signals to offer internet. It is going to be interesting to see what happens in the next few years.

I wouldn't count on LEO for a while, if it actually happens at all.

Very true, but it just seems like things keep getting pushed forward with this.  It may very well happen, but it's likely that it will be years later than the availability they propose.  Plus, with the advent of 5G service, which will expand over time (years), the need for LEO, at least for us, may very well be mooted before it really gets off the ground... pun intended.

5G? Dude I can't even get 3G in my area. I have to drive about 15 miles before I can get a decent signal.

Ugh.  I can't edit it now, but it was supposed to say "at least for many of us", not "at least for us".

Sorry but just like tesla, it's going to sound amazing but flop for most consumers.
