I thought it was just me that feels the service is slow. I can't believe these guys call this lightening fast. Can't even stream an HD movie which is the main reason I went to these guys. I'm looking for a new service that really works fast

There is no Liberty 150/25 plan - all plans, both past and present, can be found in Exhibit A of the Customer agreement:

https://www.exede.com/documents/master/customer-agreement.pdf

But anything other than the Unlimited Plans allows disabling the Video Data Saver option to allow HD streaming subject to current network conditions and data allowance policy. Your account age should tell you which plan you're on.

So is it a Freedom plan? Or an older "unlimited" 150 priority plan? That might be the one. And if it is a Silver plan or Bronze, he wont be able to stream HD.

Have you turned off the Video Data Extender on your account page. If not that would be why you are unable to stream in HD - when enabled it throttles detected video streams to a speed that is only appropriated for 480P (SD).

Fast.com will give you the some indication of the speed you're experiencing for video streaming. Try Fast.com with the Video Data Extender enabled and disabled and you should see the difference it makes.

Others such as testmy.net or speedtest.net will give you some indication of the speeds you can get for other activities.

As Stephen implies, all bets are off once you exceed your 150GB monthly allotment. However, you may also be suffering from an overloaded beam service area (congestion) during peak usage periods.

Most ViaSat plans don't allow streaming in HD, and that's by design.  This is primarily for two reasons.  One, to lessen likely congestion on the already limited throughput of the system, and two, to keep people from blowing through their data in a relatively short amount of time.  Streaming in HD can use 3GB or more per hour.

The only plans on Viasat that allow HD streaming are the Classic , Liberty, Freedom and The Gold and Platinum.

Assuming the video resolution downgrader is turned off if applicable.
