I remember they said we would love the new plans and the new speeds.

I remember not only Viasat staff but also sellers of the service telling us we would love what is coming. Well, the plans are here, at least for the lucky. If I was a new customer the plans would be available to me. I am a customer since 2013 with the promise of what the new bird would bring since I signed on. I am definitely not feeling it. The start of the heavy usage evening and this is the results of my speed test.  I have used 18.5GB of my 150GB Freedom plan.

If/when new plans are available to you, I wouldn't give up that Freedom plan. Hopefully as others migrate to the new satellite speeds will improve, but I haven't seen a plan yet that gives the best value that Freedom (or Liberty) provides.

You won't, I've seen what's going to be offered initially - amazing what some creative searching can find - like 4 brochures ;)

But people will pay more for "speed". Give me more priority data any day!

As I recall, SpinningHorse you're on Beam 329 and yeah things are a bit sluggish right now.

Had to wait for the test to complete... 747 kbps - usable for what I'm doing but wouldn't want to be engaging in any heavy lifting ;)

I do agree. Speeds are terrible tonight. By terrible I mean less than 500Kbps.

Does the viasat video optimizer detect Plex streams that are non local like for instance watching a home video from a friend's plex server streaming over the web.

I think you can setup your phone to stream from a plex server at your house.

I don't think you can setup your TV to stream from another house though.

You can do it with a Roku or a firestick. People can share libraries with one another.

That's cool. I have no interest in sharing what's on my server though. Doing so would use up my priority data.

I only download content during my free zone from 3 am to 6 am.

Once it's on my server I can stream to my Roku at anytime without using up my priority data.

Speed is somewhat tolerable, 1.6 Down, what isn;t tolerable to me is trying to read these postings and  being distracted, annoyed by animated Gif avatars.

But do your thing, it is a free country/web/forum, take your pick.

From time to time i can be a little grumpy. :)

The new plans are way below what I thought Viasat would offer with the new satellite. Basically, less data for more money. No thanks. I'll stay with the Freedom plan until they offer me something better.

I second that. I am not hung up on speed and I want a pool of data to watch 1080p video if I want. Not one "unlimited" plan allows me to do that. Freedom does.

Well my Internet is down, prolly cause of the snow and I'm not into climbing on the roof tonight. I'll just use my US Cellular as a hotspot and yes, so far nothing I have seen or experienced has lived up to the hype generated since Viasat 2 has come on-line  ;-(

We have had 12 inches of snow overnight. On backup generators right now, power has been out for over 9 hours now. Roughly 3 inches of snow on my dish, RxSNR is at 1.0 (normally is 9.0). I just ran a speed check and got 10.0 Mbps. I normally see around 18.0 this time of day, but the speed is more than I expected considering the snow on the dish and a low RxSNR. I am on a 12 Mbps plan. Beam 314.
