We are very displeased with your service. We are paying $80+ a month. Your internet service is slower than dial-up!!!Our signal is like your heart with arrhythmia!!!Why should I continue to pay for lousy product?

Steve. You mentioned "signal". What signal are you talking about? Wifi or satellite signal from the dish to the satellite? If you are talking about the sat signal, you can actually SEE the signal by typing 192.168.100.1 and then clicking on the modem tab, this will let you see the sat signal and the just as importantly, the cable resistance.

Your speed is also dependent on what plan you are on. If you are on a Classic or Freedom plan and you have gone over your data then yes, your speeds are going to stink. IF this fits your situation then you have the ability to move up to a plan that offers the data you need.

Thank you, Andy..been wondering what the IP was and that's very helpful.  I will admit though that I have never gone over my data, but find the same service level as Steve C. most of the time and worse in the afternoon and early evening here in Central VA ( EDT/EST).

I've been with Exede for 4 years, but have found that my speedtest speeds (I do not have router; direct to the modem and then to satellite) have degraded and the frequency of downtimes due to ViaSat/Exede issues have increased dramatically over last year. Retired after 30+ years in IT, but seriously thinking of changing from Exede. Other satellite alternatives provide double the data for less with a claimed faster speed and better consistency now that their new satellite has been launched.

Exede has its performance issues from time to time, but in no way has dial-up EVER been better than satellite internet, which I have been using for over 2 decades.  The fact the OP makes such a statement shows he is just here to rant.

21.0 kbps is about the best I have seen on dial-up too. The LOWEST I have ever seen on satellite internet was 55.0 kbps. So unless Vic has dial-up speeds above that or satellite speeds below 21.0 kbps I stand by my statement :).

I miss the days of dialup.  Back then the internet actually had good content.

I remember when I upgraded to a 28.8k modem.  My friend, Beavis, was still on a 14.4k modem.

One time I asked Beavis, "Why don't you get a new modem?"  His response was, "14.4 is just fine.  It only takes 4 minutes to load an average webpage.  Besides, you've gotta have time to scratch your balls once in a while."  I never forgot that comment.

There wasn't websites back then.. most likely it was a BBS you dialed into.

Good content? As far as I know the primary use of the internet back then is pretty much the same today :)
