Hello Sara

With the residential services you have a dynamic IP address which means it's routinely changing. A lot of companies use a Static or persistent IP address which is only available with a business plan. Simply typing in what is my IP address into Google alone can give you an IP address. Also you can try these methods http://www.wikihow.com/Find-out-Your-IP-Address

It can be done but requires a dynamic DNS service account (http://www.noip.com/remote-access comes to mind). Some include the ability to automatically update the IP address when it dynamically changes. It's a frequently asked question over in the other forum (https://www.wildblueworld.com/forum/) but within the context of security monitoring - you may want to search or ask over there.
