Pat, if your only connection to the internet is Exede then all usage is counted, included Roku..do you have a DirectTv dish to receive TV channels? If you only have a Wildblue/Exede/Viasat dish then you should disconnect your DirectTV box from the internet or risk using all your allowance quickly by streaming Roku through your Exede modem..
Thank you. I do have a Direct TV Dish to receive the TV channels, also have Exede for my internet and last month I went way over my usage the only thing different was the new TV. I never thought when the TV was initially set up that I was connecting it to the internet to receive my Direct TV viewing.
Roku will definitely use data and if you're doing DirecTVNOW (DirecTV's streaming service) that will be using data as well. Like stated above (Thanks Wm4Bama) just watching DirecTV channels on their satellite TV won't affect usage unless you're getting their Video On Demand rentals for new movies
