I am so disappointed with Excede. I have really no other options for internet at my new home and was hoping for a good experience.  I went from an unlimited super fast service to a SUPER limited spotty and SLOW service.  YES I  work during the day and can only use my internet during the evening- like most people out there, so I understand that there will be a lot of traffic. but I just gave up surfing last night. I don't have all night to wait for a page to load. reminded me of way back, when I had dial up. pathetic. As far as the data cap?? I get more on from my cell service for less money per month. AND It's faster for me to use my cell phone to look something up than excede. We don't do downloads, watch very few you tube videos, and I cancelled my Netflix and Hulu accounts since it's pointless to have them. it's just my husband and myself surfing an reading on the internet.  we have managed to use 15gb of my pathetic 18 and have 15 days left. great.  I am considering buying out of this crap and getting a mobile hotspot. I will have faster service and more data for less per month, wish I would have thought of that before I got into this fiasco.

Why can't the data meter show when you use data by hour?? If my Fitbit can show me what time of day I'm most active, it would seem an Internet company should have THAT much ability.

Jeanie - If your Exede Internet is slow, there may be an equipment or configuration issue.  As for hourly monitoring, supposedly Exede is working on a new data meter although we don't know what the new capabilities will be.  You could try a third party solution such as Satellite Restriction Tracker (SRT) which can provide you with hourly usage.  Or try Bitmeter II which will display your usage in real time on a given computer.  There are more sophisticated software solutions, but these two are pretty easy to get up and running.  If you can get more data cheaper from a cell phone plan then that sounds quite attractive, just be sure of what you are getting.  Some of those plans go into a slow mode after a certain amount of data is used.

It's sad that I have to worry about every little thing or I might go over. Turns out that my husband bought an app on iTunes that supposedly sucked all our data. Why would it eat so much data, when I bought the same app with my cell data and it did not budge. Seems odd to me. And to add insult to injury, when I called Excede, they had no answer for me but told me not to swear at them? I don't curse in real life and am certain I did not. For the meantime I will use my cell data, more reliable and I can watch video without fear of throttling down. Once I find a better solution, I will switch.

To top it all off, when I signed up there was discount for directv, which the local place said "yes you can get that" only to find out that it is for new directv customers. I am a long time customer so I don't qualify. And no my directv is NOT hooked to the Internet. Has never been at this house and as long as I have Excede I won't stream anything, so it won't be.
