I'm sorry. I'm bitter because my data runs out in less than a week usually. I think this is because the direct tv is connected to Internet which seems silly because it was bundled w direct tv.

Recommend that you disconnect your DirecTV from the Internet.  That's the way I use mine.  You can still do program searches up to 10 days into the future.  You can still do pay-per-view movies and you can still do view-on-demand movies out of the current movies offered.  You can even program your DVR to record programs remotely from your smart phone.  You don't need the Internet connection to do those things.  What you lose is the 72-hour rewind, deep program searches beyond 10 days, and older view-on-demand movies.

If you have a direct tv DVR, in order for the recorded shows to be played the DVR requires using Internet data to operate and play back recorded TV or on demand features. I learned this the hard way too bro. Sorry about your dilema. If you are offered the freedom plan in your area, I definitely recommend changing plans. We have the freedom plan from the start and are happy. If you are looking to stream Netflix or other streaming services, you need more than 10 GB.
