and explain to me why I am getting 1Mbps, sometimes even less when I am well within my allotted bandwidth usage. And also explain to me why I am paying them over $100 a month for service that I have difficult time streaming with? I do not have cable, or satellite TV, and use te internet to stream, and it is very difficult to do it with Exede I have found.  I am a new subscriber to Exede, and so far, I am not very happy with it.

Tony, you need to send an email to exedelistens@viasat.com. Include your account number, a phone number, and a description of your concerns about your speed. The moderators will take a look at your modem to see what might be going on. They are ViaSat/Exede employees and have some good tools for troubleshooting.

Hi Tony, I am a subscriber, just like you. I have a 50GB plan and, am guessing you have 30 or 50 GB yourself.

What time of day are you encountering issues streaming? If it is mid afternoon through about 1:00 AM, odds are it is congestion - a lot of users on your beam. Each beam has a finite capacity of several hundred Mbps throughput. We each get a portion of that, when the beam is at or very near capacity, or even a bit over capacity, we all get a smaller portion. That equates to slower speeds and chances are, everyone on your beam is having the same problem at the same time.

An Email to exedelistens@viasat.com with your account information, contact info and, asking for this to be confirmed and, your system health checked can confirm or deny my suspicions. (Link this thread in you email so they know what you are talking about.)

Metered internet service is not a good streaming solution. Even if congestion doesn't prevent it at times, the bandwidth required to stream means you are unlikely to make it an entire month without going over your allotment. 1 hour of HD video uses approximately 1 GB of data.

Yes, I am on a 50Gb plan. I used to have Comcast, and that is a great service but unfortunately, not available at our new place. I wish it was. But, having Comcast internet, we had zero issues, and used to stream and binge watch shows all night long without issues. We were paying the same as we pay Exede. I didn't expect to get as good of service as we did with Comcast, because now we are much more remote, but damn, we can't even watch one show without lockups, etc. I have been watching my usage getting used to being limited, and we only watch about an hour or two of programming a might. But, it takes us two hours to watch a single 30 minute, or hour program because of the waiting.. Irritating to say the least, especially knowing what a good service offers. I am paying over $100 for this service, and can not seem to use it much other than browsing etc. I am not happy with that. And the speeds I would expect for than 1Mbps when I should be getting much faster while still into my allotted 50gb a month. I am not used to having to "budget" my usage like that, but expected it, so that isn't the issue, the issue is getting damn near dial up speeds, but choking up $100 a month for such slow speeds. I understand the beam thing, but I just feel they should improve on that, especially with the price they expect to be paid each month. I knew Satellite service is different, and not nearly as reliable as cable, but damn. We are busy throughout the day, but would at least like to watch a program without issues in the evening. If it stays like this, with no hope of getting better, I will simply ditch it and use my phone for browsing, and internet use, and spending that $100+ a month on Direct TV for viewing. Which I really don't want to do that either. We ditched sat TV because we only watch one or two channels (Discovery, History, TLC) and had a hard time paying for 200 other  channels we never watched. Streaming "A-la Cart" type TV was a great answer for us, but with a much more reliable Internet connection. It doesn't seem to be Sat internet either. Not sure if I am over expecting, but if I am, maybe there are much more useful things to spend $100 a month on. I may have to re-access my entertainment needs and solutions.

You may want to look in to a download manager for your favorite programs, and download them during off peak hours to watch during peak hours.

I would love to get rid of my DirecTV but, with metered internet service, I can't do that. I have to pay for a lot of channels I never watch to get the six I do watch. It's a lousy solution but, that's the price of rural living if we want city luxuries like TV and Internet.

I did cancel my DirecTV and Hughesnet, with Exede Freedom 150 I can watch Amazon Prime movies at night. I so glad I have this plan, maybe some day everyone will have this plan.

It seems the freedom 150 is not offered in my area. I sure would like to consider that if I could.

I understand "up to", but if I could get half that I wouldn't be as disappointed as I am right now.
