I am not saying I expect top notch all the time. But for the money, I'm not getting any where near 25 mbps. I haven't tested above 5 mbps. I'm on the silver25 unlimited. I know, I know. Its cloudy and raining. But dang. I'm not trying to complain but I was told its optimized for 2 tv's. Its $100 a month.
I'm about to get a lecture I'm sure from the gurus!

well they said speeds are UPTO BUT!!! NOT guaranteed. also peek hours are from 5pm to 12am to either 2am or 3am. that is when everyone usually goes online so youll execpt slower speeds..

I've gotten the same speeds since install this morning at like 11 am. I'm learning all this. But wow. I didn't expect it would be like this.

And I do understand "up to" 25 mbps. But I haven't received even half of that. I havent seen above 3 mbps all day.

Maybe when they spread some of the users on your beam to V2, you'll get more of what you thought you were signing up for. There is a better than 50% chance that this will happen, could take a few weeks, I'm waiting for some major improvement myself.
Can't comment on PSVUE, never heard of it, but i guess it is some streaming service, i'd think that if you could get 15 Mbps you would be OK. I know some will say you don't need that speed to stream, but I had it one day and still had issues streaming over DTV.

I'm told I'm on viasat2. How do I verify?

Going forward the only real way right now (Other than being on Gold 50 that appears limited to Viasat-2) to determine which satellite you're on
would be to position yourself behind the dish and see where it's
pointing. With some sense of direction or even a compass use the following

Don't worry, Wildblue-1 is not in danger of clipping Viasat-1 it just seems that way just Zoom In - only George Clooney poses that risk but I think he's still in LEO at last check ;)
Another indicator of being on Viasat-2 might be your modem. See:
https://community.viasat.com/viasat/topics/my-experience-viasat-2-50mbps
P.S. Having missed it in all of the frenzy yesterday, your numbers posted for the modem stats look good (maybe even excellent dependening on weather). Also and just in case, what speed test are you using? My guess you're on Viasat-1 - there should be no congestion issues on Viasat-2 (yet).

Viasat-2 actually requires the toblerone as most of us have been led to believe. I'm guessing the sales channels need some education in answering the "what satellite am I on" question. If all goes to plan over time it shouldn't make a difference - you select a plan and get placed on one or the other that can support that plan.

FWIW, Viasat now faces the challenge of how best and how quick it can shift overutilization on Viasat-1 to ViaSat-2 - some don't want to hear that it will take time, but it will take time. Similarly I'm not saying it's aliens, but it's aliens.

Well now I'm getting like 30 mbps! But not just 2 hrs earlier at 0530, I was getting like 3 if that through Wi-Fi.

Wi-F- has been a known issue with the Viasat modem. There is a fix in the works, or you can use your own router and disable the Viasat wi-fi.

Great speeds I hope it is reasonably consistent, you should be able to stream without issue. And with not having the tobe modem there should be hope for the rest of us, as long as Viasat balances V1 and V2.

I'm guessing the tobleron modem was for the gold/platinum plans only available in some areas.

In addition to the WiFi theory and FWIW, there also have been some unverified reports here that it takes a while for changes to the Unlimited plans to kick in for full effect after activation - some suggest it requires a software update. I'd have hoped on a new install that wouldn't be necessary or could be forced by the installer. But just guessing - check speeds later or compare your current firwmare version to what you posted earlier to see if that explanation is plausible. Your software version yesterday was UT2_3.7.3.9.2 for comparison purposes.

If you have the white long triangle looking modem you're on ViaSat 2. A lot of people say it looks like the candy Toblerone: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toblerone
Don't eat it though ;)
modem should look like this:

Well then that may be the problem then. I was assured that I was on the new satellite by the retailer and the installer.

Looping back to the original question about Vue. I haven't heard much about it. From fielding a lot of emails generally it seems DirecTVNOW is a bit buggy currently (I too felt that when trying it but it's also new so that tends to happen), haven't heard much in the way of Sling and for Vue I may have seen it a few times but nothing complaining about it buffering really or anything so I'd think it works fine as long as you're not throttled on your speeds according to your plan or trying to stream at a higher resolution than the plan will allow for if you're on an Unlimited Bronze, Silver or Gold plan.

I posted a link to the fastest VPN one can hope to use and it has a 3 day free trial but so far I haven't seen where anybody has tried it. A VPN will slow down normal web surfing because it doesn't enjoy the Accelnet thing Viasat used to have in place or whatever they're doing now. Streaming doesn't get accelerated by Viasat so a fast VPN can only make things throttled or otherwise "optimized" by Viasat go at full connection speed. Someone needs to put it to the test and report back here about their experience. I can't do it because I have the Freedom 150 plan which has no throttles or optimizers whatsoever. Yes, it does cost a few dollars a month to keep it but if getting videos to download or stream at high res is important to someone I would think they'd consider the cost as worth it.

Psvue works great for me 90% of the time. Direct v now was awful. Continuously buffered on all but two channels.

Well with my subpar speeds yesterday and last night, we couldn't even watch tv with it buffering so badly we turned it off. But today, all is great!
